The following is a trade story for
NoctoNommer
And it features her OC characters Ganchua, Puck, and now, one of the greats, Torro, the Minotaur. In this story, Torro, the gluttonous predator that he is, hunts for food, but to the dismay of his new friends, Torro picks some less than ideal prey as his 'lunch.'
I really enjoyed writing for Ganchua and Puck last time, and was glad to write for them again. But Torro was really fun to work with. He's a brute, but he's so child-like that he's often really adorable as a result. And he's already among two equally adorable OC's, each one cute for many different reasons. Just, try not to be around Torro when he hasn't eaten.
CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING: BELLY ACHES, BELLY RUBS, BLOATING, BURPING, FLUFF, HICCUPS, STERN TALKING TO'S, VORE (NON-FATAL), WEIGHT GAIN.

I can barely put into words how much I adore this story. Definitely my favorite out of the ones you've written for me, and all the others you're written period.
First off, the way you write the trio is absolutely spot on. Puck is a complete sweetheart, with just the right balance of kindness and bite, and his quippy dialogue was absolutely hilarious. That deadpanned reaction to a massive belch out of nowhere at the beginning had me laughing out loud, it fits him so well. Also, it was really cool to see his character go through a bit of an arc during and after this encounter, and even cooler to see it tie back to the first Ganchua and Puck story you wrote.
Speaking of Ganchua, what else can I say about him? XD He was such an adorable, fatherly teddy bear in "An Impish Journey to Safety", and you really brought that back here. But even better, I loved it when he put on his "stern papa" face for once, which is something you rarely see from him, but you still captured that beautifully. It adds a whole new layer to his character that you didn't see in the previous story, and it shows how he has adapted to living with his new, brutish friend.
And as the debut of said brutish friend, I couldn't be happier with the results. Everything about Torro in this story was spot on, from his speech patterns, to his mannerisms, to his relationship and attitude towards Ganchua and Puck. He's that perfect combination of gruff and dopey, and right from the start, his childish antics were nothing more than endearing (especially that hilarious opening scene). I almost felt bad for him being put through such digestive torment...but at the same time, he deserves it. Hopefully he'll be more cautious next time he goes looking for fresh meat...
On top of all that, and on top of the very well written tummy stuff (as always), the relationships between the trio, between Ganchua and Puck, Puck and Torro, and Torro and Ganchua were funny, heartwarming, and just plain real. None of the dialogue felt forced. It all flowed naturally, and really fleshed out how these three friends get on each others nerves sometimes, but ultimately bring out the best in each other. Not to mention I loved the little references to things outside the story, especially that brief nod to the "mega-grub" incident.
I probably have a ton more I can say, but to sum it all up, I love this so friggin' much. Thank you so much, and I hope you had as much fun writing it as much as I had fun reading it.

I couldn't be happier that you enjoyed the story as much as you did. Thank you very much for this beautiful review.
I loved bringing all these elements out of the characters, and referencing some of the elements from the last story, as well as some of your drawings, which I'm also glad you caught.
Torro was easily my favorite character to write because there's so much about him that just makes him a blast. Yeah, he has his funny dopey side, and his childish side, as well as all the belly stuff that comes with such a character. But I remember you saying he sometimes felt bad when he wasn't 'quite up there' with Ganchua and Puck, so that's where the ending came in, to show Torro might not be bright, but he isn't brain dead, and for all his gruffness, still has feelings and vulnerability, which made him that more endearing to me.
And really, I can't say much beyond that. I'm so happy you got all of this out of the story, and I'm very humbled that you enjoyed it so much. Be assured, I loved writing it up, and that you enjoyed it as much as you did makes it that much more worth it.

No problem at all. ^^ You totally deserve the praise.
How could I not catch all those references? They totally helped bring the story and these characters to life, even in ways I never thought of. Even that lil’ moment when Puck suggests adding strawberries to get Torro to take his medicine. It really shows how much Puck ‘gets’ his new big/little brother when he remembers Torro’s favorite food.
Yeah, this story definitely shows you have a really good grasp on Torro’s character. I sometimes joke that he’s your stereotypical dumb brute, but he’s got a few more layers than that. He’s brutish, but not downright mean-spirited and cruel. He’s a softie, but he’s definitely rough around the edges. He’s not too smart, but he shows that he’s aware of it, and that fact really bothers him when he’s living with Ganchua and Puck.
I’m so glad you had fun writing about these cuties, and I’ll have to keep that in mind for future trades and commissions.
Agaim, thank you so much!

Aww, you flatter me.
I remember reading somewhere that Torro loved strawberries, and given how fussy Torro is, I liked the idea of Puck thinking of ways to 'counteract' Torro's fussy child business, as like you said, he gets the big bull boi.
Those layers are a big part of why I really enjoy writing for your OC's. Each one has that kinda depth to them but still also have distinct surface level personalities and quirks. And writing Torro just almost adorable in just the way he speaks and carries himself.
Glad to hear it, because I'm always open to writing more with the big bull boi or any of these awesome characters.
You're very welcome. I'm really glad you liked this story as much as you did.

The bullman and the kitty have a special connection. XD But yeah, that was a really nice touch, and something I can totally see happening. I can just imagine Puck grinning triumphantly when Torro says he enjoys the “strawberry water” ^^
Yup! Even without going into all that “deep” character stuff, his antics were just downright hilarious and adorable. I especially love his not-too-subtle evasiveness even while suffering from the mother of all bellyaches, his fussiness when Puck and Ganchua him to open up...followed by defeat when he gets tricked into eating the “yummy kitty”. XD And of course, threatening to punch his own tummy for ruining his stealth mission.
I’ll definitely think about any possible future ideas with these dorks. And there are still some gaps that need to be filled in, like how Ganchua and Puck came across this hungry bull boi in the first place.

Imagine if more parents or big / little brother types could get their fussy babies to eat their greens that way.
That was the other big part. More than just being an interesting character, Torro was just fun to write. The way he talks and hilariously childish way he gets all fussy isn't stuff I usually get to write, and it makes the bull boi distinctly fun for it.
Torro's introduction definitely sounds like a really interesting story idea. I imagine it probably goes quite differently from how Ganchua befriended Puck.

That would be an interesting experience. Especially since Puck is the type of critter who would trick his brother into thinking that vegetables would give him superpowers. XD
For now writing this type of character often, you really hit the nail on the head. ^^
Yep, yep it would. There’s still a bunch of details I still need to work out, but it definitely plays out in a different way.

I honestly say that this might be my favorite story of yours yet! I've always loved Torro as a character, and always wondered what a full on story about the big fella would be like, ESPECIALLY with Ganchua and Puck in the mix, since they're both so freakin' adorable. And MAN, did you deliver! :D
The way you describe everything, from the imagery to the sounds is great and truly makes me envious. But on top of all that, what I really love about this story is, as Rchlis put it, nothing feels contrived. For example, you don't immediately jump to the vore with Puck. First, he actually tries to listen in and only after realizing Torro's tummy's too "bubbly" does he come up with his 'journey to the center of the minotaur' idea. XD
And Torro himself is just so freakin' lovable here. Yeah, he's a great pred and the big fella always looks great with a big tum-tum, which you visualize fantastically. But you give him layers, where he's funny, dopey, but genuinely endearing. And the ending manages to be both heartwarming and STILL end on a laughy note.
Truly great work, sir! :)

Thanks, dude.
I'm glad you enjoy the details like that. Really, that's how I see Torro. He can be dopey, and he sounds and speaks dopey, but he isn't a dummy. And he has enough awareness to at least understand his shortcomings. With any luck, his new friends will help him grow as time goes on. Only time can tell.
