This is technically the last proper piece of 2017! Have a cute scene I started working on months ago before I got stuck.

There is! We've been writing them for a few years. I'll try to keep it brief but I'll probably get rambly (sorry!)
Baezil (left) is a botanist and was in an arranged (political) marriage for 35 years until he and his wife divorced; they'd never had a romantic relationship since he was gay, though he was very much in the closet until recently. He and Thistles (right) were lifelong friends and were exceptionally close; Thistles always had feelings for Baezil but given the latter's then-marriage he didn't wish to be inappropriate or make him uncomfortable.
After Baezil's divorce, however, the two became closer and he realised that he had feelings for Thistles as well. Thistles dropped one sweet line on him and Baezil and he just proposed right then and there (no sense waiting when it's been 35 years already? :P).
Baezil already had a grown daughter from his previous marriage and he and Thistles had adopted a near-adult Chiss into their house, but then they decided they wanted to have their own family with little children. Baezil suggested adoption and Thistles suggested "science" since they had enough contacts for that. So this little girl is actually their biological child, carried by a surrogate of course. They do later adopt another little girl, though, and I'll be sure to draw their full family at some point.
