This story is dedicated to a very dear friend of mine as a belated Christmas gift. The character: Munch, is his. I hope like it
It was a cool autumn morning when a certain cute creature decided to go for a stroll. Taking a deep breath of fresh air, Munch gather his snack basket and set on his way. Traveling down a path he knew very well. It had an optimal spot for lunch picnics. Perfect shading and beautiful scenery. It was a spot he went to often, when ever he had the time too.
It took the small creature about an hour and a half to get to this spot. As it was quite a distance from any town or village. Which was another thing that made it so perfect.
Upon arrival, Munch set down his basket and pulled out a think blanket. He spread it over the short grassy area, right under a large tree. The shade of the fall colored leaves kept the sun from shining too brightly in his eyes. But with help of a few fallen leaves, kept the spot just warm enough.
He placed the basket on his blanket and sat down. He didn't bother to get any of the food out. Not just yet at least. Instead, he took in the sight before him. Beautiful grass scenery with late butterflies dancing from flower to flower. Collecting the nectar before winter came.
In the distance, Munch saw something he was not accustomed to. Not around here at least. It seemed that another being had found the spot. And they were setting up a picnic area just as he had. Curious, Munch rose to his feet and slowly began moving towards the other. His heavy tail dragging across the soft grass.
To his surprise, it was a young female. She seemed to have come here to find some inspiration. At least, he guessed upon seeing a drawing book and some pencils.
Not wanting to frighten her, he cleared his throat before speaking. A smile of greeting on his face as she turned in surprise of her own. A soft blush appeared on her face, a shyness to the young girl. She greeted him in return, confessing she hadn't known anyone else to know of the place. He expressed the same and asked if she would care to join his picnic.
Munch watched as she tried to decide if it was a good idea before nodding her head. He helped her gather he stuff and moved it over to his area. They exchanged names as they set things up and got out food. Talking about who they were and what they did for a living. And how they had come across the beautiful little area. The giggled as they found out they were both curious beings who enjoyed exploring. It amazed him how they had never come across each other before. As she confessed that she came to the spot rather often. It seemed that they had always come just hours apart of each other.
Munch quieted down as the young female, named Neira, began to draw. Instead, taking up his time on eating the delicious sandwiches he had made for his own picnic. As well as some potato salad that Neira had offered him. He watched her for a while. The was her hand gracefully glided across the paper. The way it appeared that the world disappeared before the girl as she concentrated.
He smiled to himself in the moment, happy to have found and made a new friend. So pleased to have found this place that gave him a new chance in life. He hoped, in that moment, that he would see her often. Even voicing it while she was in the midst of drawing. To which the female glanced up, a smile on her lips, agreeing to this wish. Perhaps they would have an amazing friendship in the future. Or even something a bit more romantic. Only time and more wondrous picnics would tell.
