The cookies that Alan baked may not have been magic, but if you eat enough, you'll still get the same effect. A wee bit of self control may be in order.
Question Time! I'm really trying to improve on my art, and tried a different way of shading; the biggest difference is a lack of a hard illustration style outline. Let me know what you think of it, and if you can, provide critical feedback if you notice something off and have a moment to right it down. Don't worry I'm think skinned (see image above), I can take it.
Also I added ears; let me know if you like that too.

Yeah, I do like the softer lines (and to be honest, they were a lot less work). As for the ears, when I drew them, a lot of folks that are used to my art were having difficult time remembering if they were there before not so I'll just say they always were there and chalk it up to the Berenstain effect.
Well, those cookies must be that good if you've had so many!
As for giving some critique, I like this shading style, but it feels like there's a bit too much shadows encompassing him and not enough light contrast to differentiate him from a dark background. It could be just me seeing he's big, round and brown (like a cookie!), but this still works, especially if you were drawing this as a painting medium, or just adding more realism.

Good points. I end to default to a neutral dark gray when I don't plan on using a background instead of say just leaving it white. For the more cartoonie stuff it works well, but since this more subdued I perhaps should have used a dull complementary to let the character pop a little more.
The ears definitely make your character cuuter and softie-er. Plus they add another layer of emotion, like how a cat or dog's ears perk up or droooop in certain situations.
But the question is, Do yoou really want BLK to be more cuute? Think about the pros and cons of being cute.
