AGH... I'm only now realizing that the markings are COMPLETELYWRONGAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH>_<>_<>_<>_<!!!!!11!
... *sigh*
I have been strapped for inspiration lately but XxSunrisexX, as kind as she was, had impressively braved the horrors of possible character vandalism in granting me permission to attempt, so that I may have a subject to draw.
... I'm not proud of my handiwork; I'm always scared to death of drawing someone else's character if I don't know them intimately, and I've been just trying to work out her face for ... days. DAYS. DAAAAAYS.
I'll tell you, the effort is worth expending; not for its tangible result, but for the emotional and intellectual one. This is practice; very very HARD practice, but practice, and I can't IMAGINE doing something like this even a year ago, even MORE than a year ago @.@
I've got a few things to say about this so far...
Thanks to sunnie, I've managed to try out MANY different facial structures and angles... and drawing a blank in attempting to properly represent certain structures at different viewpoints has opened my eyes to other sources and insights. For instance...
I'm bad at drawing stage-left--that is, the 'right side' of a character's face (to the viewer's left). Attempting to draw Sunnie OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN has forced me to attempt drawing the RIGHT side First (relative to the subject's point of view).
Then, there's the shearing of an off-angle surface, like her RIGHT eye. I had no idea how to REALLY do it PROPERLY before this image; usually it's an indefinite blob of dark that can be loosely interpreted to be 'correct' by the human mind, since the mind seeks order in chaos... but let me tell you the source of my inspiration on figuring this out:
Yolin. Looking at YOLIN'S pictures made me realize how to build it myself. Hopefully it won't look ripped off :( but the more I do it, the more my personal touches and styles will be added in.
this is obviously unfinished... I couldn't even dare to tear it out of my sketchpad yet for filing... see, I have yet to know what sunnie is supposed to be wearing >_>; plus... i totally have to fix her markings. totally x.x
<3 and PROFUSE THANKS to
