Okay. So there's a huge story behind this. Like all of my drawings. It starts off with slavers raiding an entire little village, killing all the children - cause A) they're useless for labor and B) they slow down a slave line - and then throwing them into the river. Now the river leads to a swamp/marsh land, where this lovely beastie dwells, she is an adult female greenspawn (D&D) of some sort. And has resided here for quite sometime.

Having just sent off her own recent clutch of hatchlings, this big mumma is hungry and a bit emaciated, so when the bloated bodies of dead children come floating down into her territory, there isn't a second thought. She gorges and feasts, and when she is all but full, catches the gasping cry of something. And in looking, finds a young boy - perhaps five or so - with his throat cut shallowly, he was obviously mean to bleed to death, however seems to have been lucky enough to get away with probably being mute the rest of his life.

Having been a mother several times now, maternal instinct kicks in, this creature is small and defenseless and mewling - AND her stomach is full. She takes him back to her nest, where she raises him up, luckily he was a trapper's child - so he knows a fair bit about the wilderness once she gets him on his feet. She's smart, but strongly instinctual, and a great mother - if not a bit strict.

Kid's gonna grow up with quite a few scars after being scolded by HIS mumma. lol.
