Well I've gotten some pretty good TF story inspiration just from
PrintedOnSmile's tweets, so I thought it'd be fun to make him the focus of a little story as well! Involves inflatable toy TF and the possibility of permanency :3
While at a party Helium decides to test out the goofy InstaSqueak App, not realizing it's promises to turn him into an inflatable skunk toy are real...
InstaSqueak App
By: IndigoRho
A bedroom door creaked open, filling it with the booming sounds of the party elsewhere in the house. Seeing the room was empty, a cat slipped inside and closed the door behind him, happy to have found the perfect place to chill in peace for a few minutes. Helium was thoroughly enjoying the party—pleasantly tipsy from the plentiful booze—but some quiet was still appreciated. After a couple tries he managed to pull his phone from his pocket, lazily skimming through recent messages as he meandered around the room. He plopped down on the bed and sent a couple drunk responses out, not that any of the messages had been vital, though a link to an app sent by one friend firmly caught his attention: InstaSqueak.
Helium had heard plenty about the app from others. InstaSqueak was just a gimmicky selfie program, one that “transformed” the user into an inflatable toy via unimpressive overlays and stickers. While he'd managed to ignore it up until now, the extra bit of liquor in the cat's system finally made him cave in to curiosity, and he clicked the link. Of course Helium fumbled and misclicked his way right back to the app store, cursing under his breath as he tried searching for it again. Unfortunately there turned out to be dozens of knockoff apps. He spent a solid minute scanning the list over and over, until essentially guessing which one might be correct. A few ignored warnings and a quick download later, and Helium found himself staring at the rather gaudy interface of InstaSqueak.
The fonts all looked like the letters were supposed to appear inflated, every color was some shade of neon, and Helium felt like he was shooing away an obnoxiously persistent Terms of Condition pop-up every other click. He stubbornly continued on, though, choosing the toy skunk option with little thought; after all, if the app was any good he'd just end up trying them all out. Helium moved the phone around so his head and chest were centered in his phone camera's sights, and apathetically clicked the button marked transform. The resulting flash was far brighter than anything Helium had ever experienced, brighter than he even realized his phone was capable of. His phone slipped out of his paw and hit the floor hard as the cat shook his head and rubbed his eyes, wincing.
While his sight returned soon enough he was left with a lingering sense of vertigo, the cat wondering if the app he'd downloaded was just a dumb prank. Attempting to clench a fist in frustration, he was surprised to find himself incapable of doing so. Helium looked down at his paws and ended up more confused than ever; they were...changed. His fur color had changed from light brown to glossy black, his fingers fused together into a puffy mass. Details seemed painted on, and when he nervously pressed the paws together his eyes widened at the faint squeak they made. If the idea hadn't been utterly preposterous, Helium would've sworn he'd gained the paws of a pool toy.
The cat didn't have much time to reflect on the absurdity, as the slick black coloration began to spread up both arms as well. Stunned, Helium's eyes widened in fear once the mysterious transformation began affecting his sleeves as well, flattening them out completely and giving them the same latex shine as his arms. Finally driven to action, Helium slid off the bed and onto the floor, frantically searching for his phone in the hopes it was the solution to stopping whatever was happening to him. As his tail turned to latex it swelled dramatically, enough to actually throw off the terrified cat's balance and impede his quest. The tail stretched and inflated, gaining a wide white stripe to accompany the black. Helium managed to get a quick look at it out of the corner of his eye, recognizing it as that of a skunk.
How was this possible! The half-cat, half-skunk finally scooted his phone out from underneath the bed just as his chest was bloating with air. To his horror he realized swiftly that his puffy paws were useless for working the phone, unable to affect the touch screen at all. Out of desperation he swatted at his phone with his paws to no avail, cursing his misfortune. The further along the transformation progressed the more rigid and number his body became, his limbs already steadily contorting to a default pose. With an intense amount of effort he was able to move still, but even concentrating was getting difficult. As the latex spread to his head his jaws were clamped shut and face twisted from concern to a cheerful painted-on grin. His snout distended out a bit, reshaping from that of a cat to that of a skunk. Helium's eyes were forced wide open, simplifying to big white ovals with tiny black pupils, purely decorative.
The cat let out a faint whine as he felt the rest of his body turning to latex, before falling over onto his side, frozen in place. For a agonizingly long minute he retained consciousness, vaguely aware of his status as an object rather than a person. Toys didn't need to think, though, and Helium soon faded away, leaving behind only a life-sized inflatable skunk that appeared to share his fashion sense. An hour passed, then two, then three. The party remained in full swing, all of Helium's friends assuming he was just somewhere else in the house, or that maybe he'd left early. None suspected the ridiculous truth, and inevitably the party came to end without anyone assuming peril had befallen the cat.
Early the next day the door to the room finally opened again for the first time since Helium had slipped into it. An obviously hungover black goat trudged his way in, stopping in his tracks when he spotted the giant inflatable skunk laying next to his bed. Despite being a collector of such things, the goat knew for a fact he didn't own a skunk one, and wondered who could have possibly left the delightful toy there. Eventually he decided not to question the unexpected gift, assuming a friend had snuck it in the night before during his crazy birthday celebration. With a grin on his face he picked the skunk off the floor and unplugged its nozzle, deflating the toy until it was completely flat and then folding it neatly for storage. Poor Helium was tucked away in a bin with his fellow inflatables, now forever a part of the goat's collection.
