AWESOME WORK! You even did some shading. GREAT JOB!!!
I suggest two things:
1. The background is unneccessary and distracting, and clashes with Austin's colour scheme. For a simple, 1-object image like this, a plain white background directs the viewers eyes towards the actual drawing. You may wish to put in that bar he was leaning on though, so he doesn't look off-balance.
2. There's a lot of unused space here. Make sure that Austin is the only thing there. This can be cropped down a LOT, to make it look more proffesional.
Overall, great work! You really got the hang of GIMP quick. Keep up the amazing work
