I thought it might be fun to show how far these models have come over the years and make a short mini series about them. These pictures will show all iterations of the same creature/hero/character ext, from 1987 to today.
So we start things off with the Tyranid Termagant.
The oldest is the smallest one on the left. Almost no armor and it's weapon symbiote sits on top of its back with tubes reaching down to the fleshborer gun.
Next evolution (middle) is just a little bigger, a lot more armor covers its body and head as well as a sharp spike blade on the tip of its tail. The weapon symbiote has moved to the creature's underbelly and now the gun itself has armor.
Lastly the Termagant of today. Bigger then the others but still swift. Its armor is more streamlined but it has lost the tail spike. The weapon symbiote is now completely housed within the "gun" itself and fused to the creature's arm.
I can't chose which I like more personally. Do you have a favorite?
I have more Tyranids and Demons lined up for this series but if there are any other armies you would like to see, just let me know^^

It's not often that I find myself liking old models more than the original sculpts, but I think here I'm feeling like the older ones were slightly better. Maybe it's just the idea of the modern gaunt guns seem silly to me; If it's part of their biology why do they have to wield it like a separate entity? Maybe take the body of the new gaunts, the spike tail of the middle one, and turn the gun into a sort of replacement for the arms and I think it would be perfect.
