This is a Skilled Drawing. I can't think of anything better to call it. it's got volume, depth, texture, the whole lot, and all of that is executed very well.

Whoa, I remember Catwings, but I just connected those books and my favorite book of hers, Lathe of Heaven.

Lathe of Heaven is BEYOND awesome/ existentialist/ thought provoking
I need to go back and read Catwings again methinks too

I love the big, obvious pencil marks. It just seems so brave, not having things be smooth and instead turning that into "owning" the texture, if that makes any sense.
