Story:
Whisperclaw
Below you may read a wonderful story Whisperclaw wrote for this picture. It is really worth reading ^-^
“She has a quiet confidence that screams loud. She is humble, but strong. She is stable, but rebellious. She is giving, but not naive. She chooses her battles wisely. She will stay silent until it is time to fight...and when that time comes, fight she will...”
Prelude
"Good evening. You probably already know who I am. And if you do not- you will soon enough.
I am Whisper. And I am...a kunoichi. I have been trained by some of the best fighters and swordsmen in the world. Why? One of my many goals in life is become strong enough to handle any and all adversaries I come across. I am by no means perfect, but I try my damnest to be the best person I can be. If by some chance, I fail to complete a mission or defeat my foe: I will train harder, learn from my mistakes, come back stronger, and I WILL succeed. Failure is not an option.
So why am I here today? I have been hired to take out an unworthy being. A rat if you will..."
A smirk crossed her lips as she gazed down at him; a man in a bloodstained robe sat before her, cowering in the snow- though it was hard to tell if he was shaking from the cold, the temperature steadily dropping into the single digits, or the katana lingering above his head like a guillotine. It was 2 in the morning on a crisp, winter night. While most people were asleep, Whisper thought it was the appropriate time to exterminate pests and rodents- afterall, most lechers and lowlifes seemed to come out at night anyway. Why not get them while they are stirring?
She had just returned from a much needed vacation and had several missions and orders waiting on her. Most orders were from her regular clients with annoyances or disturbances they needed tending to- most of the jobs required little to no effort so she was in no rush to complete them. However, one particular request stood out from the rest. It was…him. Her eyes grew larger as she looked over the target’s dossier over and over again, making sure it was not a cruel joke or a different person. It was him alright! Whisper had been hunting for him for years, but he always seemed to be one step ahead of her. This time, however, he slipped up. He got arrogant with his last attack in a nearby city and stupidly told someone where his headquarters were…thinking he was safe from the watchful eyes of predators. Now, thanks to a fellow assassin’s tip, she knew exactly where to find him. Wasting no time, she rushed over to the target's location to stake out her next kill- she felt particularly excited about this mission...
"Are you Bill?" Her claw thumbed across the katana's blade as she stared him down, her voice oddly quiet; it was almost...soothing. "If so, I have a message to deliver to you." Rather than reply to her question, he tried to run off, throwing a fistful of snow in her direction to distract her.
"..."
Whisper watched him run into the night, not bothering to chase him...not yet. Running in the cold would just exert excessive energy she rather not waste until the time was right. Besides, the chase is part of the fun! Why end it so early…
Brushing the snow off her face and outfit, she walked in his direction, her pace steady and confident; he was not going to escape. Sure enough, about seventy yards away, she could see his figure huddled behind a tree. His frigid body tried to climb up the tree to escape her wrath, to no avail. He should have known better than to try and escape his fate-
Holding up her blade, it caught ablaze as she waved it in his direction, "Here, let me warm you up..." Engulfing the tree and surrounding area in fire, the man was left with no choice but to run towards Whisper’s direction to find refuge- that or die to fire and smoke inhalation. It was a lose/lose situation. As he collapsed in front of her, he looked at her, his eyes full of regret- but she knew it was not remorse for his actions, but because he had been caught and called out on it...which only made her angrier. She could not let such a man continue to live, not while she was around. She lifted his body up from the ground and held him up to face her, her lavender eyes fiercely glowing in the darkness as she held the tip of the blade up to his neck, "I want to see the fear in your eyes. Do you feel it?! That feeling of helplessness knowing your life is about to end yet you have NO control over it. How does it feel? That fear is the same fear your victims felt when you wrongly killed them and their loved ones. Remember this feeling for the rest of your short life…” her icy words lingered in the air as her breath filled the night sky.
"Shine!*"
Finishing the deed, Whisper wiped her blade off, taking in the silence of a perfect kill. One down.
However, she still felt an odd sense of emptiness. She had been waiting to kill him for SO long and avenge those he had hurt, herself included. Yet…it was not over, not yet. She still had so much work to do. And her hitlist kept growing and growing, as did her passion to take everyone on it out, no matter how long it took her to do so.
“ano nan demo nai hibi o torimodosu tame dattara ore wa nan demo suru.”
(To be continued).
