I drew this back in November. I was really missing my dad so I did something with me and him dancing together.
It occurred to me that this moment will never happen. I'm sure that I danced with him as a kid but he fell ill when I was in high school and wasn't able to walk very well at all even with a walker or cane, much less dance in any degree, and now that I'm grown he's gone entirely. So this is definitely a bittersweet piece about a moment I'll never have with him.
For those of you that don't know; I've been drawing my dad as a lion long before his death. He fully accepted being "papa lion" and loved all the doodles I had done of him too, haha. But if you'd like to see his character more fully I had done a portrait of him about a year after his passing that you can see here - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12652341/

Thank you! I really enjoy making works that include a bit of personal life to them. This one in particular is one of my favorites. It's been my phone lock screen since I drew it haha
My advice would be to
1. NEVER try to make yourself stick to "a style" because your style really comes down to how you individually work your art and it will come through no matter what. Don't try to alter yourself into doing only one thing. You'll only hinder your own development and ultimately become dissatisfied with your work.
2. Venture outside of your comfort zone. For the loooongest time I hated that art teachers kept trying to have be draw realistically but after I finally did so and explored that for a while - my art (both traditional and digital mediums) advanced a LOT. Never let go of traditional even when you're going into digital works. It's highly beneficial for you to remember what you may learn from both and apply it to whatever you're working on.
3. Watch what others are doing. Go watch speedpaints, attend live streams, pay attention to tutorials, etc. Development doesn't have to only be made through practice - you gotta study sometimes too. I definitely take a bit of what I learn here and there and apply it into my art.
Art should always be constantly developing. Never stop yourself from trying new things if you want to. c:
