The blast to the wall caused so much damage, William admired the hole that he had created, as he let out a humongous laugh.

"See what I mean, rookies? You need the skill to take down the enemy first before you go down with it. So then, can anyone tell me what type of weapon I am currently using?"

The students in the classroom look at one an another, all seem to be stumped, or confused.

William was a young soldier, a teacher, and even a leader. He has taken on many foes within his line of duty taking down hundreds of robots from his path, defending, and defeating the army of the all mighty Dr. Eggman himself.

Before anyone could answer the question, the bell rings, dismissing the rest of the class for the day, while William chuckled a bit.

"Of course and class just had to be over..."

"Well, some people are afraid to face you, Mr. Williams."

William turned towards the door, just to see Maria eyeing him from across the room, and smiled.

"Well, I guess I have to be a bit nicer around here, now don't I?"

"You most certainly will, since most people around the base has been referring to you as the Ultimate Weapon."

William walked over, placing his hand against Maria's cheek, whispering in her ear.

"Then at least I still have a heart, right?"

"Oh, William..."

"Maria..."

Suddenly, base turned dark, until a dim red light started to illuminate throughout every room. William could hear a voice clip over their heads, reporting that the enemy is approaching their base.

"William... What's happening?"

"I don't know... Let's just get to headquarters immediately."

They ran out of the room, running down multiple types of corridors, and hallways. William felt tensed, considering that the enemy has never once found their location, until now.

They burst into the room, facing hundreds of people focusing their eyes on to computer screen monitors, with little to no indication on what to do. There was a man, facing a giant window overlooking what seemed to be a deadly massacre unfolding outside.

From where William stood, he could see thousands of people collapsing to the ground, with holes projecting out of their bodies. Both he and Maria ran up to the man, with a tired look in his eyes.

"Captain Harold, Miss Maria and I reporting to duty, Sir."

Harold turned to William, placing a hand on his shoulder, and sighed.

"Mr. Williams... Have you ever considered what the end would look like?"

"Um... No, I'm afraid not, Sir. Why would you ask?"

"..."

In a sudden flash, a bright light erupted from the sky, shattering the window, knocking William out unconscious, before hearing Maria screamed:

"William!"

William had a dream. One where he seemed to be changing, as he heard an evil laugh from behind.

William felt himself shrinking, his bones compressing themselves together, as he felt what seemed to be tiny bits of hair crawling all over his skin.

He looked down at his hands, watching the black hairs consume them both, while he felt his face pushing out into a muzzle.

William screamed, his blonde hair coursing out longer, and his ears seemed to be moving towards the top of his head.

"Is... Is this all a dream?..."

He looked up, to finally see a fat man standing over him, with a giant smile plastered on his face.

"More like a nightmare, my little pest! Mwhahahaha!"

William finally woke up, placing his hand's on top of a glassed wall, where he could only see dirt that was blocking his view from the outside.

"Where... Where am I?"

He scrambled his hands all over, feeling around the little space he had, and gasped.

"I'm... I'm in a capsule?..."

He banged his hands against the glass, cracking it with each swing. Eventually, the glass broke open, as William collapsed on to the ground.

Breathing quite heavily, William lifted himself off of the ground and saw more capsules lining up against his.

"What the... What is all of this nonsense?"

He went over to one, trying to bang it open, but to no avail.

"Well, guess that ain't happening anytime soon..."

He turned around, noticing a giant machine sitting in the middle of the room, with tubes connecting to the capsules themselves.

"What... What is going on here? And... Why do I feel weird?"

William looked down, seeing the black fur resting on top of his skin.

"No... No, none of that was real, it couldn't..."

He slammed against a metal wall, screaming.

"What the crap is going on?!"

Suddenly, a giant metallic door propped open, revealing the fat man from Williams dream. However, he finally realized who he was.

"Eggman..."

Eggman smiled, his blue goggles flickering from the fluorescent light, as his brown mustache twitched with excitement.

"Well, it seemed that at least one of you had survived my experiments."

"Experiments?... What are you talking about?"

"Oh, you never figured it out, didn't you?"

Eggman pressed a small red button, turning the machine back on, with little tiny projection screens covering over the glass cases of each capsule.

Williams walked over, gasping, and trying not to scream in a fury.

All of his comrades he knew and loved, were contained in the other capsules, with a red screen projecting in big white letters:

Terminated.

"No... No, you couldn't have-"

He paused, staring at the one in front of him, and saw the name resting at the bottom of the capsule.

"Maria?... You... How could you do this?..."

"Simple. I'm evil. While you are my new minion, Mr. Ultimate Weapon."

William crashed on top of Eggman fist clenched in the air, and ready to smack him in the face.

"I'll kill you for this, monster!"

"Oh, how funny! You think killing me won't make you the same, huh?"

"..."

William smacked him, knocking Eggman unconscious, and was ready to deliver the final blow.

"... Maria... What am I doing?... I'm sorry... I want to kill him... But it will never bring you back to life..."

Disgusted, he kicked Eggman to the side and walked out of the room.

"I'm no longer Williams, Maria... But only a Shadow of who I once was..."

He walked out of the base, clenching a fist in the air, and exclaims:

"Shadow... I am Shadow The Hedgehog... And I will avenge to those who have lost their lives in the war... Especially to those who kneel before me... Because this is who I am."
