Car cradle

„Hmmm Hngh. Good morning.“
Koron greeted himself as he woke up from his deep sleep. He rubbed his front paw over his sleepy eyes, while his right front paw was searching for the car key to turn up the electricity in his car. The paw found the key in the ignition and turned. The car made some electrical noises and the radio began to play. The news were currently running. And the host spoke with a happy voice:“ Yes folks. Believe it or not, we were hit by a snowy night and as it looks like, the fallen snow will hold up for some days. Schools are closed and public life came almost to a hold, by the big piles of snow on the road and sidewalks.“
Koron looked up and took his rubing paw from his eyes:“ Huh? What? Snow?“
The black Buizel looked out of the front of his car, well he tried but the windshield was complettly covered by a thick layer of white snow, that darkened the inside of the cold car. And now Koron noticed the cold temparature and began to feel cold, even his fluffy fur wasn´t a big help to keep him warm or his hat, that slipped down from Korons head, during his sleep and was now hanging over the gear shift:“ Hehe what are you doing, down there. Go back were you belong,“ Koron took it and sets his hat on his head:“ There we go, feels much better. Brrr still cold though. Uhm oh dang.“
Koron saw the meter that showed how much gas his car had left and it wasn´t that much and he should get to a gas station as soon as possible, or else he can forget the car heater, but before the black Buizel could go anywhere, he needs to free his car from the snow. So he opens the door and he immediatly got greeted by a cold breeze, that whirled around his nose:“ Oh man, is Articuno around? It´s so damn cold!“
Koron held his foot out of the car and the second, his sensitive pads touched the snow surface, he immediatly witdrew it“ Cold! Cold!“
So the black Buizel had no other option, but to fly out of his car, to get a look at his enviroment. It was still early in the morning and the sun barely looked over the horizon, so everything was still covered in the dark blue of the night, but everything was also covered with something else. Snow.
A perfect thick white layer of snow was covering the entire city, including Korons car and the parking lot it was standing on:“ Well this looks bad. I can´t drive on streets like this and i don´t have a gas container to quickly get some gas by myself. Hmm... So what can i do?“
The Buizel crossed his arms and began to think and to freeze:“ Urgh I can´t think when I´m this cold. Oh now I know! Linzie. She should have some gas and her home is not that far away. Haha I´m saved!“
Koron quickly flew back into his car, grabbed the car, flew out and locked the car:“ I will be right back. And the car key in his paw vanished. And with a smile on his face, the black Buizel flew of towards Linzies home.
It just took him a few minutes to reach it. He couldn´t even land in front of the door, as even that place was covered in snow, so he floats, while knocking on the door.
The door opened, but it wasn´t Linzie, it was Linzies boyfriend Cody:“ Hey Koron. What brings you here? And why are you floating?“
„Hi Cody. I just wanted to ask if you have a gas container around here, I need to fuel up my car, but I can´t drive on these roads.“
Cody made a step to the side:“ Maybe you should come in for a moment, you look like if you could need some warmth right now.“
Koron made a nod:“ Yes I come in.“
Koron enters the house and Cody guides the Buizel into the warm living room, there, on the couch was Linzie, laying down and covered with a warm blanket. She looked up with her sleepy eyes and barely recognized Koron:“ Hmm? Oh hey Koron. What,“
The lizard girl made a long yawn:“ What brings you here.“
Koron went to Linzies side:“ I just wanted to ask for gas or a gas container so that i can fuel up my car. Uhm Linzie? Are you ill or something? You don´t look so good.“
Linzie shook her head, with her eyes slowly begining to close:“ No, it´s just the cold weather. I always get so sleepy when it´s so cold outside.“
And with some more mumbling, Linzie fell back into sleep. Accompanied with a little, cute snore.“
Cody came back in and held a cup towards Koron:“ Here Koron. This will warm you up from the inside.“
The black Buizel took the mug and took a whiff from the warm, brown liquid inside:“ Hmm hot chocolate. Thanks Cody.“
Cody made a smile:“ No problem. I always keep hot chocolate around when it gets this cold. Just keep Linzie warm, outside and inside. It´s almost like caring for an ill person, even though she is not ill. And just between us,“ Cody came closer to Koron and began to whisper:“ She also gets very very cuddly, if you know what i mean.“
The black Buizel responded with a smile and took a big sip from the mug. The hot chocolate was indeed very hot. But Koron drank like it was on room temparature, what astonished Cody:“ Wow Koron. Aren´t you burning your tongue? I mean that drink is pretty hot.“
The Buizel smiled at the kitty:“ Not at all. As a fire breather I´m used to it that fire is passing through my mouth. So I really don´t notice it when a drink is hot. I of course notice it when a drink is cold.“
Cody rubbed the back of his head:“ Oh yeah, I almost forgot, that you can do stuff like that. Hmm wait a second Koron. I got something for you. Cody went into another room, while Koron kept sipping on his chocolate. What could Cody have for Koron? Hopefully something usefull, Koron doesn´t want to litter his car with trash. Well what could Koron was some winter clothing. He got a warm blanket in the car, but outside, he is complettly unprotected:“ Hmm.“
Koron looked towards the peacefully sleeping Linzie. Normally his driving mentor is so energetic, but now she looks like if the cold outside had sucked out her entire energy.
Cody came back. With 2 wrapped up christmas presents in his hands:“ Merry christmas Koron. That´s for you. Hey Linzie, wake up I want to give Koron his presents.“
Linzie awoke with some mumbling sounds:“ Hmmm presents? Koron? Oh of course!“
The lizard girl stood up from her resting place, while Koron had absolutely no idea what is happening right now. He looked at a nearby calendar at the wall. Yes indeed, today was christmas day. But presents for him? Who would have thought. He never got christmas presents ever since he left the orphanage. And yet right now. He stood in front of two of his friends, smiling and holding christmas presents for him. Linzie was holding on to Codys arm:“ Yes, that was my idea and Cody immediatly supported it. Heh, what are you waiting for? Open them.“
Koron took the presents and just looked at Linzie and Cody:“ I-I don´t know what to say. And... and I have nothing to give back.“
Linzie tried to make a big smile:“ Your visit is present enough, and maybe you could say thank you.“
The black Buizel made a nod. He tried to hold his tears of joy back:“ Thank you.“
He then proceeds to open up his cristmas presents. And with the wrapping removed, Koron was now holding a black winter jacket, a red scarf (Scarf and jacket were together in one present) and a pair of winter boots, all adjusted to his size. Linzie explained herself:“ I was worried about you Koron. You life in your car and it can be very cold outside. So i thought it would be best to give you some warm clothing. Yes i know that you don´t like to wear clothing, but i hope you will like to wear this.“
Koron strapped over the warm, black jacket, his small arm fins luckily found enough space inside the jacket. The red zipper was easily closed and up. The red scarf found it´s place undernath Korons neck ring, with the end waving at of the side. The black winter boots had a fire pattern on them and Korons footpaws fit comfortably in them. And a good thing that they got velcro fastener, since Koron wasn´t that good at making knots.
And now there he stands. The god of destiny packaged in some warm winter clothing. Cody smiled at this sight:“ You look good Koron, how do you feel?“
Koron looked at himself and shortly replied:“ warm.“
Then he tried to move around, what looks pretty clunky. Afterall it´s the first time, that Koron was wearing more clothes than just his hat:“ Hmm feels a bit weird but i will get used to that. Thanks a lot Linzie and Cody.“
Koron took the two into a hug. Linzie brought an idea:“ Hey Koron why don´t you stay for the day?“
The black Buizel released them from the hug:“ I would like to take care of my car first. Uhm about the gas?“
Linzie made a nod:“ Yes we have a filled gas container in the garage. I,“ Linzie made a yawn.“ I show you were it is.“
But Cody had different thought:“ I think it is better when I give Koron the gas container. You will cool out when you go into the cold garage. You better warm yourself up back under the blanket, sweetie.“
„Yes you are right, kitty.“
Linzie gave Cody a kiss and then went back to the couch to warm her cold lizard body. Cody guides Koron to a door that leads to the garage. A very typical looking garage. With Linies, almost legendary green VW GTI parked in it. Cody looked around for the fuel container:“ Uhm I´m pretty sure, that I saw something like that in here. But where?“
Koron however only had eyes for the car. He suddenly felt like if he is standing on holy ground. He gazed upon the green GTI. That´s the car he has to beat, in order to step out of Linzies shadow, he is still her student, even though he made a lot of things on his own. Koron carefully reached out his frontpaw and laid it onto the car hood. It was... cold, just like Linzie. Almost like if they are linked. Linzie and her car are like one. For Koron and his Peugeot, well there is still a long way ahead of them:“ Hah I found it!“
Yelled Cody from the back. And Koron quickly drew away his paw and the black Buizel moved over to him. It was indeed a big gas container, and according to Codys failed attemps to lift it up, it was full:“ Man, why is this thing so heavy?“ He panted.
Koron lifts up the heavy container with just one paw:“ Maybe you should train a bit more, Cody. That thing ain´t that heavy.“
Koron himself lifts up from the ground, and carried the container within his flight. Cody opened up the garage:“ Here. You can go out this way.“
Koron shook Codys hand:“ Thanks buddy. I owe you and Linzie one. Alright time to fill up my thirsty car.“
And out he went. But thanks to the warm clothing, he wasn´t feeling that cold anymore. And so he was quickly back at his car, which was still covered with a snow cloak. But now, Koron freed his car from it, with the help of a snow brush, that je kept in the back of the car. And at the end, the entire content of the fuel container went into the Peugeots fuel tank. The empty container, got stashed away in the back and Koron headed towards the front door, to see how much fuel now is in the car, just when he was about to summon the key:“ Hmm? What is that?“
He got a sudden odd feeling. Like if something desprate was calling him. Someone was in need of help and Koron was feeling it:“ I better follow this feeling.“
The black Buizel thought to himself and followed the vague trail, that his feeling gave him. It led him, to a not far away group of trees. The desperate feeling was so close and Koron flew around the trees to find for someone who needs help. There, he stoped at one hole in the tree and looked into it. The pale light of the sun shined into the hole and onto something small and brown, it was shivering. And suddenly Koron recognized, what this little whimpering thing was:“ Pipsqueak! Hey little buddy, what are you doing here? Gosh you must be freezing, here. I will keep you warm.“
Koron carefully pulled the defenseless little dragonfly out of the hole, he opened the zipper of his jacket:“ I´m sure I saw a pocket somewhere around here. There it is.“
There was indeed an inside pocket on Korons chest height. And he carefully poured the freezing dragonfly into it.
Koron quickly flew back to his car, and slipped into the drivers seat. He puts the key into the ignition and started up the engine:“ Hmm it´s no use. I can´t wait for the heater to get warm. I need to warm it up by myself!“
Koron hammers his booted footpaws into the pedals and the car tires drilled through the snow. He was turning and drifting over the snow covered place, even the clothing wasn´t holding him from it, to drive like he always does. Finally, the heater blew out warm air. The booted footpaw hammered into the break and the car stopped after a little slide. Koron opened up the jacket and looked at the pocket, where he put Pipsqueak in:“ Pipsqueak? Are you okay?“
A little two toed dragonfly leg, waved out of the pocket. And a happy looking pipsqueak popped out of it:“ Squeak! Purrrr.“
The little dragonfly looked a lot better:“ Phew, I´m so happy that you are fine. Oh wait a second.“
Koron bends over to the glove compartment and opened it. After a little search, the black Buizel found what he was looking for. And he drew out a chestnut:“ I know it is not much, but merry christmas, Pipsqueak.“
He held the chestnut towards the dragonfly and Pipsqueak happily rammed his mandibles into it, so he was not only freezing, but also starving. Suddenly, Pipsqueak, jumped out of the pocket and cuddled himself against Korons warm chest. And Koron laid his paw over the dragonfly and he made a happy sigh:“ I love you, too. Buddy.“
