Church Grim page 1
posted 8 years ago Fantasy Artist of Winds | Support me with Shinies!
On cold yet peaceful yule night in the town of Braheastad, Sir Kiljaos the lion paladin of wind and San the lynx cleric are riding to the church of the Divine Elements to attend to yule night's church mass. They had been bathing in sauna at Kiljaos's home with his other guests and appearantly not seeing time flying as they are almost late from church. They make it in time after all and everything seems fine, although Kiljaos notices people being very gloomy unlike normally during yule...
This is the first page of a short, six-paged christmas/holidays comic. This story taking place after the "Fairy of Tasku"-comic, it's another entry of Kiljaos's adventures when staying awhile in his hometown Braheastad, in the kingdom of Pohjoland. This comic is about the finnish, swedish and english folklore about "church grim" during christmas night, continuing with the theme of stories based on finnish and scandinavian legends and also tales around my hometown Raahe here in Finland, on which the town of Braheastad is based on. The church of Divine Elements seen here is based on the old church of Raahe, that existed between years 1650-1908.
Also, as you can see, in Karamador christmas is called yule. The religion seen here is not christianity, instead is a fictional one set around natural elements, but shares similarities with christianity.
I wasn't at first going to upload this comic to here, because of how generally disliked my art and especially comics are on this site. But I decided that whatever, here it is anyway.
