Hiddson: Hello and welcome to another edition of Bandits Breakdown, your post game coverage for all things Las Vegas Bandits. Brett Hiddson, along with my co-host, Terrence Thursday. Week 8 and the Bandits look to continue the climb back into the race for a playoff spot but in order to do that they have a must win against the visiting New York Titans, Terry.
Thursday: Titans suffering a heartbreaking loss to the Outlaws last week and now they visit the Bandits looking to add to the rare losing streak for them here. As well as get them back for the 41-0 loss back in week 4.
*cue highlights*
Hiddson: Fans are hyped up as well as anxious for this one feeling their season is on the line for this brutal stretch of the season, but if they can find a way to win the rest of it out Bandits can feel confident they can still make it back in. But not when Justice Matari has a say about it. 39 yard catch there... later in the drive Charles Snyder touchdown for New York after the pass from Adrie Dawkins. 7-0 after one.
Thursday: Second quarter, Dawkins looking for Des Widmore but a beautiful interception by Richard Reynolds to halt the Titans drive. Bandits unfortunately 3 and out the ensuing possession and punt it away. Titans back with the ball Dawkins finding Justice once more this time for 18 yards he would have a good game, Charles Snyder with a 21 yard completion from Dawkins. Dawkins now finding Widmore this time for 32 yards, just taking big play after big play on this drive. Next play Ripley Blackheart checking in for Dawkins and darts his first pass to Widmore for the Titans touchdown. With a field goal after forcing another 3 and out to Vegas, but the Bandits responding with a field goal of their own. 17-3 at the half.
Hiddson: Bandits with the ball to start the half getting another field goal to chip away at that lead. Meanwhile the Bandits defense starting to step up, Drew Coleman getting the sack on Dawkins to stop the drive. The punt not the best from Gustafson as Tarbor makes up half of the punt yardage to get deep in Titans territory. Stapler would not be denied here finding Roy Viridi-Aqua for the 26 yard touchdown! 17-13 Titans, after three.
Thursday: Bandits continuing to find ways back into the game thanks to the defense finding ways to frustrate Dawkins all half. Fourth quarter now and 4th down. Titans looking to go for it to put the Bandits away...
KLVB Radio: Dawkins drops back to pass on 4th and 9 Doleman slipping past the O-Line and sacks Dawkins!... *fans erupting in cheers* Dudley Doleman with a 7 yard sack and the Titans turn it over on downs!
Hiddson: Huge play made by the veteran safety finding the blitz to pay off. Now for the offense to find a way... Stapler on 3rd and 6, finds R.V.A looking for the first down but just tripped up short by Bledsoe. Bandits would have to kick the field goal. 17-16 Titans.... Bandits forcing the Titans to punt once more. Could be that last chance for Vegas. Stapler in a two tight end set not finding Cortes. Smith, stonewalled by Owen.... Stapler looking for Bakari but drops it to make it 4th and 10.
KLVB Radio: Stapler in a tough spot here... needing the first down or its pretty much over. Drops back to pass, finds Viridi-Aqua... spins off one hit shakes off another and Goercke reaching out to barely trip up R.V.A! He would have gotten the first down had he not been tripped up, Bandits turn it over on downs and that should be the game.
Hiddson: And that would indeed hold up, Bandits not able to complete the comeback, losing 17-16. Another heartbreaking loss for the Bandits who drop to 2-6 on the season, Terry.
Thursday: Credit to the Titans putting up just offense in the first half. Bandits have got to establish better drives to help their cause and, then who knows how the game would have turned out there, but now, like the others, they have to put it behind them and find a way next time.
Hiddson: And with that we'll take a break, but when we return a look at next week's match up against the Chicago Outlaws...
