And here is the finished version. Well not completely finished, I will probably do a background element to help hold it together. I tried a little bit of gold paint for a top this time. Not totally happy with it, too much soaked in but I'll keep experimenting. I hope to have a third piece finished by the weekend.

That's quite cute. and a skillful choice of how the 3D is done.
Is that standard foamcore board, or is the material something else?

No, this is fun foam. Sorta the new felt. It is a type of foam rubber in very thin sheets and in bright colors. I used foamcore on some art a few years ago but wasn't happy with the results. I'll see if I have pictures.
