So here is the lore for Raptush that I recently wrote up in my free time. She won the story vote so I decided to give her some actual lore! Enjoy and feel free to tell me what you think!

A scientist with an unknown name had been working on a genetics experiment. The experiment involved extracting DNA from a raptor claw with an unknown goal. The research was done in a secluded lab far off in the forest away from civilization, the reason for this is also unknown. Little information was retrieved from this lab, but notes and physical evidence indicate that the scientist is no longer around. The notes that were found scattered around the dusty lab went as follows.

The lab was far off into a dense forest with little around it except for trees and a river. It was simple and plain, it looked like a simple log cabin. This may have been a reason no suspicion had ever been drawn to it. The scientist was a male and performed many tests and experiments in this lab. He kept notes, written on simple parchment with ink, that talked of his discoveries and any events that took place.

One particular note goes into detail about another person knowing about the lab. While the man had never actually met this person, he had an idea of what they were as a note the person sent describes an avian woman and at the bottom of this letter was a light blue feather attached to it. Another letter, at a later date, described several gifts, some simple supplies and one object of study. The object was a plain diaper, but the note told of it having a magic enchantment on it and asked for the scientist to study it thoroughly.

“I have sent you a few items that I hope you will find some use of. The previous letter I sent contained a feather from myself as proof of who I am in case you had any doubts. Along with this letter I have sent you some supplies. A few of which are of what you asked for, some chemicals, parchment, ink. Along with that, I have sent along a special item I wish to have studied. The item is a diaper, not a regular one but a magically enchanted one. If you would be able to study it and write back about what you find it would be a great help to me.”

The diaper was set on a separate table near the east wall in the small lab. The man worked facing the west with a syringe in hand, wanting to finish his main project before starting one on the diaper. DNA was pulled out of the raptor claw that sat on the table in front of him and he separated the DNA into a container to keep it safe. Various chemicals sat around the table as well, ranging in colors from reds to greens and each having its own use as he described in a journal.

When the experiment was complete the scientist began to write his findings down which would become another journal entry that was to be found. A mixture was made out of the DNA and it was held inside a syringe with the hopes of testing it on a specimen. What follows next is directly taken from a damaged note.

“ I have finally found the right mixture of the chemicals to isolate specific parts the raptor DNA. With this hopefully I will be able to re-create a raptor and from there many more creatures using this strategy…”

Writing that has been faded indicates something happened as the ink appears to be smudged. The rest of the note remains intact.

“ The needle slipped, no, I slipped. I felt the sharp pain in my arm and in a panic, the first thing I went for was some parchment. I am unsure of what will happen to me but if anything, I might as well document it.”

“ Seconds past and I began to think everything was alright, then I began to feel hot. My body...it’s changing.”

The note contained no further information other than some strange claw marks that ripped through the bottom. More claw marks were found around the lab and the enchanted diaper that was described in a journal entry was no longer where the man said it to be. With careful consideration, it appears the following happened.

The scientist slipped and stuck himself with the syringe he had just made from the raptor DNA. He attempted to document anything that happened, but he was unable to after the serum began working inside of him. What he had hoped to use on a test subject, he had used on himself. The serum worked even on a human, transforming the scientist into a raptor and from analysis of the raptor claw he had been working on, a female one.

In a panic of what was happening and possible loss of his humanity, the scientist turned raptor had knocked many things over in the lab, including the diaper, as well as raking its claws over tabletops and walls in a struggle to get used to the new body. The raptor then fell onto the enchanted diaper which must have, with its magic properties, wrapped itself around the raptors waist and secured itself. It seems after that, the raptor ran out of the building and never returned.

The building since then has been investigated and only rumors of raptor sightings have been heard about from nearby villages and towns. No further confirmation or information has been gained. It seems the mysterious serum he had been working on was a DNA altering one but the ingredients for the serum, as well as the syringe used by the scientist, are now missing.
