So I posted drawings of Valen on this site done in my style. But before I started doing that, Valen was a Sonic fan character and I had made him a bat. But now that I've gotten back into drawing Sonic fanart, I decided to update his design. But no matter how many times I tried to draw him as a bat, each and every time he never came out looking right. It's my fault since I've drawn nothing but hedgehogs, echidnas, and the occasional felines. So my solution was to change his species. So I made him into a hedgehog.

The quills are different from the sketches, I tweaked Valen's quills a little. I was told the quills sticking up look like horns- they look like the spines from the xenomorphs from the Alien movies to me. and the longer quills look like bat wings. I had some trouble with his clothes, I like his shoes, but I still love his eyes. I think I made the shading way to dark, I hope I didn't. Valen can control the shadows or can tap into the abyss as he puts it.
