Contest Entry for xTheDragonRebornx
Style: The Black Cauldron. Specifically the wyverns featured in that movie.
Scene: Morrowseer first comes face to face with Glory under the mountain.
I was browsing for dragons in Disney movies so I could decide what style I wanted to use and came upon the wyverns in the Black Cauldron. I haven't seen it since I was a little kit, so I didn't even remember there were dragons in that movie, but man do I like their designs. Their lack of pupils in particular intrigued me, and I thought drawing them would be a fun challenge. I chose the scene where Morrowseer first sees Glory just because I thought the dark, dreary setting of the underground cave would match well with the setting of the movie. Everything in The Black Cauldron is very dark and desaturated, so I tried to tone down the colors quite a bit, make everything less bright and shiny. Most of the screen shots you find for movie are usually very poor quality (presumably owing to the film's lack of popularity), so I added the film grain to try and tap into that a little. I did reference Maleficent's dragon form in Sleeping Beauty a bit for Morrowseer's front legs and Glory's frill, simply because the wyverns didn't have either of those things. I'm still not completely happy with it, but I've done all I can do for now.
No critique desired. Please respect that.
Wings of Fire belongs to Tui T. Sutherland
The background is from The Black Cauldron and does NOT belong to me.
The character art belongs to me, and you are not permitted to steal, trace, copy, reference, or otherwise redistribute it in any way. I also do not want to see this posted on RP sites, Facebook, YouTube, etc. without my permission. That's still art theft.
