Made myself a in-case-I-get-robbed list of my long guns. Am posting roughly half of it here. This is probably a bad time to publicly post one's armaments, but as the Wise Old philosopher said, "Fuck 'em!"

Also feel obligated to chastise you, since it's people like you with two hands and dozens and dozens of guns who feed the black market, by getting robbed, and then justify increased gun hoarding and decreased gun regulation because "criminals can get guns illegally, gun laws only stop non criminals from getting guns." Honestly, I hope you keep your toys somewhere safer than your closet, and if you have pistols for goodness sake keep any that you don't have on your person locked up in a safe or something, eh?
actually i cant help but feel offended by this comment " since it's people like you with two hands and dozens and dozens of guns who feed the black market,"
so basically. your labling every person who owns more than 2 guns someone who feeds the black market and gun violence. well Christ. i guess hunters with different caliber rifles for different games are akin to criminals and competition shooters too?
"its people like you"
listen if your anti gun thats fine, but don't get on this guys case and point the finger at us as the blame for crime. its a fucking tool. your practically blaming the gun for crime. might as well blame spoons for fat people while i'm at it. Now i cant speak for all gun owners but me and many other gun owners i know are very responsible people who indeed teach gun safety. As a former LE from Miami u can sure as hell tell you than the regular joe smoe with a nice collection isnt feeding the black market here but illegally smuggled south american guns akin to AK's, Chinese and Brazilian pistols side by side with narcotics.
have a nice day.

Yes.
Yes.
Good grief. I thought I was a Grammar Nazi, but you take the cake. You're basically just pointing out all of his typographical errors and using that as an argument? That's downright foolish. You don't make yourself look any smarter, and you hurt your case by looking like a bully.
Your argument in and of itself is inherently flawed, and has become even moreso due to your total and unconditional acceptance of additional terms given by Maverick. You now assume that any person who owns more than two guns, regardless of circumstances, is a criminal, or is at least akin to being one, since they are potentially feeding the black market. Even if that weren't blowing things enormously out of proportion, I find it interesting that your first reply shows interest in a gun of one form or another, and if your argument were to be considered sound, owning even ONE gun makes you a perpetrator since that one gun can be stolen just as easily as two or more. Probably moreso since that's less weight, and the victim no longer has a weapon to defend themselves with, assuming they aren't sleeping with said weapon.
I urge you to rethink your stance on the matter.

Wait, what, 'people like you'? People who purchase their firearms legally and keep them lawfully for protection of self and others?
If people like Karno feed the black market what is it people like you feed, Karass?
I didn't know that the money I spent registering my firearms, applying for permits, and buying my service pistol from the state was furthering the crime rate to such an extent.
I'll be sure to grow some additional arms so you wont have to be concerned about my guns being stolen by black market ninjas.

I got a good laugh out of that. After the '94 AWB, one of the most used crime guns in the U.S. suddenly became the Glock 17 as police forces around the country, especially in large cities, began widely issuing them to officers. There have been a number of instances where an officer leaves his automatic rifle in his car when he's off duty, only to find it stolen later.
How about the law abiding that shoot the black market criminals who come to steal their guns? They're doing a huge favor taking an arms dealer off the street, right?

OK - so... Zmbie apocalypse armament time!
For zombie guns, you want to saw those single shot 12 gauges down to pistols. That's good for when they erupt out of cupboards, coffins or dark passageways at you. Keep the 12 gauge pump action for close work, such as exploring sewers, military bases and scary old buildings,
Now for long range work - remember, you need to go for head-shots. So accuracy is everything. The AK can probably go.
You probably want to keep both the .303 and the .306. The 303 is a better rifle, but in the USA 306 cartridges might be more common. and you need the .22 for hunting rabbits in the glorious post apocalyptic world.
Remember -
Think safe!
Think ZOMBIE SAFE!

Actually, considering the sheer fact that firearms act as a sonic-net that will ATTRACT every single zombie within a five mile radius.. That's handguns and small carbines. Shotguns and long rifles..eight to ten mile radius.
Unless you're on the move and planning on moving AT LEAST fifty or so miles from your last gunshot and planning on not moving from your destination for longer than 72 hours..you're better off not firing a gun at all.
And taking into account that this is based on the slower "Romeroian" lurcher traveling at about 2mph on level ground.. And not a faster Rage Virus inspired runner (up to 15mph until muscular degeneration/failure sets in) or fresh-turn (up to 5mph)..you might only have potentially 4-15 hours until a single gunshot has attracted every single zombie within hearing distance of the rapport if you take all three types into account.

Crossbows are you zombie-safe minded ranged weapons. As for bladed weapons, I prefer machetes. While they might not be folded steel..not all swords are either.. Chances of finding a real practical sword that could survive prolonged combat these days is hard even without zombies. But you can walk into practically any hardware store and find a machete. Right off the rack in the store they're functionally sharp enough to hack off a chunk of zombie skull if need be (and if not, there would be plenty of other blunt heavy objects close at hand). A little time and effort back at a safehouse (or prior to an outbreak) with a sharpening stone will turn a store-bought/raided machete into a zombie hacking device that will equal a battle-ready katana and be in a much more handy-sized package.
And a stout shovel with a sharpened blade also makes for a practical zombie killing device in a smaller easier to carry package than something that was commonly used as a cavalry lance :P

The ultimate anti zombie weapon: the Ruger 10/22 rifle. It is a short, light, clean firing (and self cleaning) extremely simple semi-auto rifle with, great range, accuracy, stability and rate of fire as well as very low recoil (even without the optional muzzle brake). It fires the .222 long round which is small and light (so you can carry a great many rounds with you), quiet and available in massive quantities literally everywhere that sells ammo. Clips exist for up to 100 rounds though 20 or 30 are more common and reliable. It can be easily modified to fire full auto if you are worried about that (though semi-auto is probably better to conserve ammo against the horde). It never jams (I've never seen one jam even after thousands of firings) and has so little kick back you can fire it full auto with zero rise without trying. If you are worried about sound, suppressors exist (or you can make one), but the human ear has a hard time localizing the source of gunfire from more very close ranges so zombies should not be able to either.
There is a version of this gun (the Ruger mini-14) which shoots the only slightly larger but much higher velocity .223 NATO round (like the AR15) as well as one (the Ruger mini-30) that shoots the bigger, heavier and bulkier 7.62x39mm round (like the AK47), but though these have more stopping power they are not as available (or compact in the case of the 7.62) and so are probably less desirable in a zombie attack.

The one - the only - way to do the zombie apocalypse right is with cold steel!
I think a naginata has the right feel. An excellent reach, and fast, once you put the time in (about 6 years) to get comfortable with it. Katana as back up - keet to a fairly handy weight.
aaah - the glory of taking down a zombie horde old style!

Ahh, but see I never want them to get that close to me. Also how many can you get before you get tired, or your sword gets suck in one? I intend to be on the high ground to take out as many as possible in between moves. Also if they are only-destroying-the-brain-can-kill-them type zombies a sword would be a bit tricky to use effectively. Now for last ditch backup I've got a sizable machete, a serious crowbar, and a WWI style trench knife (3 different ways to kill a zombie knife part through the eye, crack the skull with the knuckle duster hilt or more easily crush the skull with the heavy spike in the pommel which is designed to kill a man in a steel helmet.). I've got a maul and a fireman's axe too but they are rather cumbersome and heavy (especially the maul the axe is not too bad cause the handle is fiber glass) the fireman's axe goes on the belt but it can be a hazard when running or moving in tight spaces or through obstacles.
