Personality:
Calm, composed, and near infinitely patient, Niomedes is the founder and queen of Empyrea. Has a dry, oftentimes dark sense of humour, and enjoys subtly messing with others. Mellow, rarely showing any more emotion than mild amusement. Rarely truly angry. Vengeful, and is able to hold grudges for millennia. Has a sassy, sarcastic streak that she tries her best not to make apparent in front of her subjects. Highly intelligent, continuing in her father’s place as a brilliant scientist. Fiercely protective of her family (especially her children), her queendom, and Aperture, bordering on obsessive overprotection. Unstable. Paranoid under stress and sleep deprivation. Cares more for function over form, with an emphasis on simplicity and practicality evident both in her attire, and her work. Despite her shortcomings, she tries her hardest to be a good mother to her brood. Enjoys teaching, and has a habit of guiding others into making decisions that will be beneficial to both of them in the long run. While not exactly 'friendly', she is nonetheless pleasant company when enjoying herself.

Centuries of grief, pain, and guilt over her past actions have necessitated the so-called ‘paragon of perfection’ to hide her true self behind a mask of her own creation, if only to spare those closest to her heart from her deepest fears. Scared of succumbing to madness again if something happens. Has long suffered from depression.

Other:
- Her true name was unknown for the better part of her life; Niomedes struck all knowledge of the name from existence out of spite for her mother, and adopted the moniker of 'Glados' as a replacement. Only Arlon was able to remember (according to him, "an older brother never forgets"), and still calls her by her pet name of 'Nio' as a way to annoy her. In recent years, Glados began to slowly call herself Niomedes again.

- Her domain of Progress is commonly attributed to Science, Medicine, and Time. Niomedes is technically the Goddess of the Future, and as such, has limited insight into Fate as a perk of being a Time deity. Because of this, she is able to have vague insight into the near future (up to around fifty years) and those who may affect it.

- Niomedes has mothered five children to three different fathers: Bonnie, Phillip, and the triplets Kathryn, Nolan, and Sybill.

- Queen of the hivemind that is Aperture Laboratories; the thoughts and processes of everything Aperture runs through the back of her mind at all times, a pleasant hum that is always there but able to be ignored. Her mental link with the sprites, panels, and everything else connected with the Aperture system allows her to issue out orders quickly and efficiently, while their semi-independence from her allows them to continue to function if she is asleep or otherwise incapacitated.
