Dog no. Only in very exceptional circumstances, and I'm not sure I can remember any examples.

Cats fight dirty - if forced into a fight, a fox will almost certainly come off significantly worse, and perhaps partially if not wholly blinded.

They know this somehow. It's a rare - and stupid - fox who takes on a cat. He'll only do it once! The people who go on about "foxes kill cats" are those who don't have the first clue, and probably figure that being dog-like foxes are like wild mad wolves or something, or have an agenda and just outright don't care about spreading mis-information.

Well I'm glad to know that I was missinformed and that Gizmo is safe. Thank you for clearing that up.
