I've done this sort of thing before with sparklers during the fourth of July.
Would put the shutter speed to bulb and while it was open, spell out our names or make some weird designs.
Unfortunately I can't do that since I moved to AZ, cause the only type of legal fireworks here is the big flashy ones run by the city.
If you like I can post some pics up from a few years ago. They look pretty interesting.

You can use a cheap little flash light ya know :]

Ya I've used a (not so cheap) flashlight before. But the sparklers look 1000 times awesomer! (awesomer isn't a word but oh well)
