So I needed to make a few alterations to this fellow- most notably, he had scutes on his forelegs and shins, and they and his mane were black. The original art I had as a reference was outdated. :) Here he is in his current "plumage"! I deepened his colour a little, too. If he's still too orange, I can redden him up a little more as well. The fabric I have is a pretty dark series of reds and blacks, with a scale-pattern on it- I also have some "tie-dye" red velvets that I'm planning on using for his wings and belly, if I have enough of it. Drathek's mane will be black faux fur, and the scutes black vinyl, the claws and spikes cream or white vinyl (I'll see what I have in stock). His eyes will be plastic cat-eyes I got from a shop set into some white vinyl for the sclera. :) I have studs and D-rings for his collar and wristbands, too.
