Based on real events, this one was sitting up near the ceiling, taunting my cat.
While I was drawing this, it foolishly scrambled down within nomming range though, and I suspect is no more. My cat got to play with live prey though.
I suspect I have a small army of these things hiding various places, making sure my apartment is otherwise bug-free. :D
(Look 'em up on wikipedia, they eat spiders, flies, roaches, silverfish, bedbugs, ants, and any other bug they can get their ~30 legs on - and they're harmless to people too!. :D )

A very interesting species of centipede. And very often they confound people. I don't think I've seen a more common arthropod show up on ID Request at BugGuide with a panicked "WTF IS THIS THING?". Maybe dobsonflies are the only thing to match it in that category.
They seem to terrify a lot of people.
I, of course, thing they're awesome. :P But, that's predictable if you know me.
