So this is my attempt at doing something about space travel as 
gato909 suggested I do in my journal about asking people if they had any ideas for poems.
I'm stuck with this and can come up with nothing good sounding. I really just can't choose between making its sound mystical or sticking to some sort of "aboard a ship" feel.

Wow, I like the way it sounds. You've got a nice jumping off point and I can't wait to hear the next verses.
As far as feeling torn between the aboard-the-ship feel and the mystical feel, you might consider the possibility that they could both be interwoven in someway. If you do interweave them, thinking of the aboard-the-ship feel and the mystical feel as two aspects of the same adventure/experience might of some help. I don't know exactly what your writing-process is, though, so in the end just do what feels right.
