Thank you, but my goal is for drawing him to be most enjoyable by line method first and foremost. I think inevitably the head and body plumage will be smoothed and streamlined, with only the wings looking really feathery. At least, that's what seems the natural tendency for my hands to draw ^.^...
I get you, but that just doesn't seem to strike my fancy. The more I look around the more I find that I don't like the -furry- aspect of furry characters at all; I think fluffy material only looks good when used as a rare addition, with the rest of the body being smooth like skin.

i like it the opposite, tho i do make my character smooth in many ways, i'm always quick to mentions he's a very fluffy pika... its just hard to draw all tat fluffyness... but the idea of fluffy fur is incorporated into how the lines reflect body shape... most of the lines are meant to show his fur rather than his skin
