Intense Focus... That is the expression on my face, as my lips draw away from my teeth, to scent my prey, and I stare at the only visible piece of anatomy, of the Gantääl nosing through the deep snow, about a hundred paw lengths in front of me. Its black eyes, do not see me, nor does it sense my presence, as I crouch low to the ground, out of sight of the creature. I make not a sound, but my muscles are bunched, and ready to pounce upon the animal, to take its life, to feed my Tribe. The Gantääl are a gentle species, and off no threat to my people, but the Bagheema need to eat... especially in the time of Full-Frost. My teeth are clenched, to keep myself from screaming a hunting cry. The wind carries its scent, stronger, toward me, and I can no longer hold back from closing the gap between us. I seem to float across the snow toward it, pushing off once, and then only once more, before I am upon it, thrusting my spear into its flank, and breaking its neck swiftly, so it will not suffer. The Gantääl is at least four times my size, and I will need the help of my Hunting Party to carry it back to The Camp.
I met this talented artist, over a misunderstanding, and we got to talking, and messaging back and forth, worked out said misunderstanding, and we found out, that we live about 10 miles from one another. So we decided to meet at Sweet FROG, a Frozen Yogurt place, nearby to our houses. I had a Doctor's Appointment that day, but they pushed me back to 2pm, and before I could message her to let her know, she had already left, and started waiting for me. I told her I would get there as soon as I possibly could, and when I finally got in, to see my doctor, I let her know that I was disappointed, that they couldn't have fit me in earlier, and that I had someone waiting for me, now. So, I left there, and I drove to meet Jeda, who is a very kind, and caring young woman. I apologized to her, for being later, than I thought I would be. As she was waiting for me to arrive, she had started sketching this piece, and when she showed it to me, I was just blown away. What a lovely gift! We sat and talked, for quite a while, and then finally got up to get our Frozen Yogurt. We talked for a while longer, while eating our Froyo, and then I received a text from my brother, about my Mom. She was asking when I could come and see her in the hospital, when just the night before, she had told me I should just wait till she got hom, in a couple of days. I knew this was pretty important, since my Mom wasn't an indecisive person, so I told Jeda that I needed to get a hold of my brother, and find out, for sure, what was going on, with Mom, in the hospital. Jeda prayed with me, and we promised to hang out again. I'm so glad that God's timing is perfect. A misunderstanding, turned into a new friendship, and just at the right time, as I lost my Mom, on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017, to Congestive Heart Failure. I really needed a new Christian friend, who is closer to my own age, and understands a lot of the health problems I cure entry am facing. She is a support for me, where my Mother, can no longer be. God knew I would need someone, in the weeks, months, and even years, to come. And He provided me with someone who already "gets" me to a degree.
Thank you, Jeda, for drawing this beautifully, intense piece, of my Sona, in a way I've always hoped to see some day. It truly is a "God Thing"
