I pulled the stars from the sky
Because you wanted light,
I strung them all upon a string,
Secured them nice and tight.
I chose each one carefully,
Not overlooking the large or small.
It took me several years,
Yet I never numbered them all.
I presented them to you in hiding,
I asked "Did you take a peek?"
You smiled and said you hadn't.
Yet my secret still was leeked.
And as you looked into my eyes,
My heart began to sing,
A lovely melody,
The stars upon a string.
So now if we ever are apart,
Just please, remember me.
I'll gaze up into a starlit sky,
And by your side, be.
