The dog Laika was the first mammal shot in space in 1958 by the Soviets. Poor dog didn´t survive the trip. I furrized her to honor her.

On the other hand, the Soyuz design is coming up to 40-odd years of more-or-less continuous use (first manned launch 1967), so something must be right with it :)
