They snuggled together in the dark, the shadows slowly creeping closer as he held her, praying to anyone who would listen for her safety. The evil that lurked here was too strong, the price too heavy. For each person to pass, one must stay.
"Please Seren, hold on," her words brought tears to his eyes, clutching her to him tighter now. Seren knew he wouldn't make it more than another hour, the shadows of the forest were already draining his life force. Fading him out of existence.
"Grace. We both know I can't."
Grace whimpered as she clutched tighter, fear was consuming her.
"I.. I'm sorry." Her whimpers were enough to cut his heart to shreds.
"Please, just.. Till I fall asleep."
"Ok."
