Alternate title: 1 week into Argus patch
About 2 months ago I ragequit on WoW for an unknown amount of time, having not logged on until today to get a screenshot ref. Reason for me quitting was a chain of events that eventually broke the last straw for me. While some may think that I left because I got nerfed, it's not the case. In fact, because frost dks got their talents reorganized, I could finally again use my #1 favourite spell in the whole game; Frostscythe. However not even that was enough to keep me playing.
Back in warlords of draenor, my joy of raiding had been permanently killed off by the biggest douchebag I've ever met there... one that I had to endure being with for half a year... 5 raids a week minimum... 5 hours per raid. In legion I've not been able to have fun while raiding, I've taken it 100% serious and can't banter, can't joke around, take every single mistake I do as unacceptable behaviour. After one too many wipes on farm content one raid, I stopped showing up to raids in my current guild anymore, and obviously I didn't raid at all from then on.
As the expansion went on, the community's requirement for certain mythic+ difficulties ramped up, up, up. Only way for me to keep up was to do as many m+ I could and hope for luck with the titanforged lottery. However, during all that time, including a whole new raid being released after I stopped showing up to the guild's raids, there were 4 pieces of gear I realized quickly I would HAVE TO raid to get rid of... the frost death knight's 4-set in Nighthold. That set bonus was so overpowered that even with gear 30 item levels HIGHER than what I replaced, I couldn't get rid of that 4-set until I would get 4-set in the newest raid... and only on heroic or mythic pieces. (did the math with lfr pieces, and i would still lose dps if i got rid of nighthold one)
Due to me being weighed down by those 4 gear pieces, it was a gigantic pain in the ass to get into any kind of m+ at all! Hell, in the entire expansion, I've only ONCE managed to get into a +15! We didn't even make the timer on that one! But after months upon months of hard, painful work, I managed to get to 919 itemlevel. Then the Argus patch came the very next day. I did some of the questline that was avaible at the time, but when I looked at the looking for group finder, and saw that ALL the +10 runs demanded 920+ itemlevel, I said 'Fuck this' and just quit like in the pic.
One might think it wouldn't have been too bad since I could just get it higher, but I had JUST gotten to that level, only to have it all ripped away from me before I could even make use of my gear! All that work, for nothing IMMEDIETLY!
On a side note, before I left, I had a while earlier managed to get the red color of the hidden appearance on the swords, which I was happy with, because I didn't even pvp to get it :3
Update: A bit after this one was made, I finally got the motivation to play the game again, by just completely ignoring the community and guild, and only focus on catching up with the argus storyline. The itemlevel increased by 5 to 924 in one day, and while I'm still there, it's been not too bad... until I checked the +10 requirements of today. They demand 925... 1 higher than me... nothing fucking changed >_<

At least Warframe is free... So there's no harm done. Unfortunately, I went on a spending binge one night because I love the devs so I spent a shitton on them and bought gear and stuff.
Also I won't try warframe, had one annoying as hell guy on steam friends play it so much I associate the game with him.
Also, I was trying to tie my experiences to yours to see if I was close enough. I wasn’t, clearly. Personally I don’t know what Legion or “mop” are I’ve never played WoW. I don’t intend to, especially after seeing your rant.
I have no idea what half the words you've used here are, and every time I ever asked anyone I was insulted and told to uninstall the game. So eventually I did...
It's clear you put a great deal of time and care into the game. Sorry man.
I had a level 64, arms spec'd, AGI-based, Warrior. I was mostly a tank--shield and fist weapons.
I never raided (tried, couldn't figure out how). I never got into the high-end dungeons. I never spent real money for gold to buy purple gear on the AH (AH is a terrible idea when combined with tiered gear systems; it allows gold farmers to dictate the entire game. Don't ever say this out loud though, you'll be crucified. Try Looking up a player named Goldmansachs sometimes. He's the bastard who hacked my account as used my character as a mule). I never used the same cookie-cutter spec and gear as EVERY other warrior tank--why give us options in the first place if only ONE works?!
And I never played a whole session in groups without someone telling me to kill myself.
What I did have, was a lot of happy groups and dead bosses under my belt. The most common compliment I ever got was "Gee you sure are nicer than the last guy. He took one look at our gear, called us all bitches, and left.". I'm more proud of that than any raider, regardless of how awesome their gear is.
I'll be frank; I don't like Blizzard.
They are brilliant coders (some of the best in the world), wonderful artists, and they clearly care a great deal about making their games popular.
But they don't care about making them good. Blizzard can't balance a game to save their lives.
Their games are made FOR toxic elitists. No one else is welcome.
Tbh, agility wasn't that good for warrs even back then, strength was the way to go, and while it's okay to have a shield and a 1h for just in case moments, an arms warr should wield mainly only 2h strength weapons for best performance. Hell, nowadays intellect and agility doesn't do anything on a class that has strength as its main stat. Same with the other 2.
On the goldfarmer thing btw, they're pretty much gone with a few spammers in trade chat here and there, and don't worry, nobody likes them. Hell, blizz even did the effort of getting rid of them by adding in an in-game shop that lets you buy store-only pets/mounts and gametime tokens. The tokens work in 2 ways. You can buy one for 20 bucks or so and sell it on the auction house for a changing value that depends on how many are being sold. They're around 80k last I checked on the us servers while on eu they're worth FAR more since not many here buy microtransactions. The other way it works, is that you can buy one on the auction house for that amount of money... and get a month of free gametime. Meaning you technically don't have to spend any money on the monthly/bi-monthly/6-month(which i use) fee to play the game if you're good at making money through the auction house! Personally, I don't care much about the auction house and all my gold come from world quests and missions. Oh and if you wonder if the monthly fee has increased, it hasn't. It's still to this date 15 bucks a month even after inflation.
I didn't raid or even dungeon until wrath, and I... was very shit. Like, really, really shit. If you're gonna raid you best do babysteps to learn how to perform. One main rule though, don't attack the boss until the tanks does.
As for epic gear, I didn't even care about that in tbc, I only did dailies and was fine with that. Hell, my first epic was the merciless gladiator pants for warr.
Effort of trying something different though.
I don't even remember that happening to me, prolly just went over my head, but dungeons in tbc were rather hard though. Also prolly depended on how you behaved in the chat, tho I won't pry into it.
You had friends then eh? Niiice. It's the little things that make the day
I just want to have fun with the game. If I have that, I'm good.
Toooo be honest... wow nowadays is very, very, VEEEEEERRRYYY casual friendly. More than it's ever been in any previous expansion! ...at least in anything outside raiding or the higher mythic+ dungeons. Those are miles harder now than tbc was. They still have that free trial thing btw where you can level a char to a limit. But unlike the original where it only went to lv 10, it now goes up to lv 20 and you can do dungeons with it. You just can't get whispers or work on the auction house.
Oh and don't worry about getting expansions, you only need to buy the latest one, as the game since the 3rd expansion come with every earlier one for free.
Have put in 500 hours in that game by now
