Here, Memphis is indulging in his favourite pastime, reading. Being in possession of the Persian king he wasn't given much of a chance to go outside and explore since there was fear of him being stolen away. So, to keep himself busy he stayed with the monks and priests in the temple where the kingdom's library was kept. Since he has wings he was able to fly to the highest top of the shelves (over 1,000 ft up) where the oldest and most treasured books were kept. Here is where he gained most of his knowledge, soaking up as much information as possible, and literally reading every single book on that library. One of the high temple priests named Mardonius takes Memphis under his wing and helps to expand his young mind, fascinating him with stories of old and war. Unfourtunately, Mardonius will eventually lead to Memphis' s exile.
Anyways, the Persian king was intrigued by Memphis' s quick learning abilities, incredible army strategies, and intelligence, and began to come to Memphis for political advice. Often times he would have Memphis accompany him to meetings and conferences, partially to show him off but mainly to give his insight on different situations. Memphis keeps his trust for a while before he eventually betrays and kills him.
