Have you considered taking care of an adult baby or oversized toddler? Life is not all sunshine and rainbows with these not-so-tiny-tots to look after. Caretakers across the country often find difficulties when dealing with their new bundles of joy, and quickly become discouraged. Fret not, young parents—we have gathered the wisdom of three kindly mothers who do not want you to share the same frustrations they once experienced.
Potty training tends to be one of the greatest achievements for small children and their parents, but Sarah thought differently.
“When I first brought Naiumi home, she was wonderful! However, when Justin lost his job, diapers became difficult to afford while we still maintained the same standard of living. At first we considered keeping her in cloth diapers, but I dreaded the idea of doing so much laundry, so we tried to potty train her.”
“Little Miss Fluffbutt had a hard time taking to the potty—she even seemed scared of it at first. We quickly moved her up to training panties, but she seldom made it to the potty in time, so we eventually just gave up. I would suggest just skipping that milestone. After all, if they’re back in diapers, they’re not meant to get back out of them, and they come in such cute prints!”
Kiva was too lenient with her charge, and allowed him to break far too many rules.
“Jasper’s an ornery little guy, but he’s just too cute to spank or to stay mad at for very long. I tried taking away toys, or sending him to the corner for time out, but he’d find something new to play with or would quickly escape the corner, making the punishments effectively pointless. I found that locking him in his high chair worked the best—I can keep him still, and at the very least, I can give him a bottle while he waits.”
Sarina was far too receptive to cubs in need, and found herself tending to far more tots than she could handle.
“I ended up taking in every baby who was lonely…They all just want to be loved, and I can give them that love at the very least. I started getting a little overwhelmed, so I eventually hired a web developer to set up a website so babies and caretakers could get connected, and the munchkins could find their forever homes! In the past three years, we’ve helped create over 2,000 families!”
