My own custom FaceRig avatar! Full view to see it animated! This is the one I’m hoping to use during the stream this weekend (read more about that here). It was actually quite a trial to make, but with some help from friends and a lot of tinkering, I managed to figure things out! It still has some problems (which I hope to fix down the road) but it was a great learning experience!

Thank you! I picked Facerig up during a sale some time ago and have been meaning to play around with it, it's just somewhat difficult to work with when it comes to make your own avatars for it. There's very little documentation that's in English and not a lot of tutorials.
If by "give it a whirl", you mean "try FaceRig," you can buy it on Steam and it's pretty cheap. It has pre-made avatars, so you'd just need a webcam!
If you mean "try making an avatar," I'd say give it a try if you're feeling so inclined! The software used to make the 2d models is called Live2D Cubism, and it has a free version (which is what I used.) It is a little lacking on good documentation, though.

Oh, I totally understand! That's basically what FaceRig was made for, so it might be worth a try! Like I said, there are plenty of free avatars available. Though I think you're not allowed to use it to make money unless you buy a special license, so if you're planning on monetizing your videos, it may not be right for you. I'm not totally sure on that.
