One year at TFF I got a traditional sketch commission from 
dhstein and it was cute and I thought, I should do some painting with it for practice, play with brushes and junk, dappled sunlight, etc.
6 years later I got around to it :p
Also yeah I did the "realistic" version where his palms and soles are skin, not just solid cartoon color.
