A symbol that appears frequently in the emblematic illustrations of alchemy is the Green Lion. Typically he is shown grasping and devouring the sun. In metallurgic alchemy, the meaning of this is the power of sulphuric acid to dissolve all metals such as iron, copper, and even gold, the king of the metals (represented by the sun).
In organic alchemy, the alchemy of potions, the green lion stands for chlorophyll, made by plants “eating” sunlight. Modern interpretations of the “inner path” of alchemy see the green lion as a symbol of the way consciousness can be overwhelmed when bottled-up, intense emotions are finally released.

That was a fascinating piece of research about the green lion and offered a great bit of insight into the meaning of the piece. The picture itself is excellently rendered and it all flows together quite, the sun and lion together as the center piece flow into a standing object that looks a bit like a flower at a first glance. The flares from the sun also blend well into the lion's mane, and it's just an exquisite work that you should be proud of in my opinion.
Okay it should come as no surprise that I like this one a lot XD yay for alchemy AND lions! twofer deals w00t! or would that be twofur? *shrugs*
anywho, really awesome job on the lion and sun and holy shit awesome symmetry! Did you just flip things over the vertical half or use guidelines? or dare i say it, and how awesome would it be if you did, free hand and eyeballing it? whatever the trick it worked really well.
Also, this reminds me of those little tea prints you bought over at AC07.

haha, its the overall floofyness of them ^^
In respects to the grid tool I think it still looks pretty badass, I mean if someone takes a ruler to this to try to find any "not symmetrical" errors they need a new hobby. And you can't be TOO lazy with the amount of ink lines you put in your work! XD
