Now the body is finally furred too (can't just stare at the head all the time...).
Obviously, this is just a first approach. The body pattern goes just down to the chest; it should actually cover the belly and part of arms and legs. The length, thickness, and density is uniform; this will require some maps to change. If you look closely, the head fur is much finer and shorter but for the body the fur structure should be visible from farther away so the basic fur parameters are different. I'm still pondering whether it makes sense to change the head fur for full-body shots as well - it's almost completely smooth at this distance. ...If the camera is still farther away, I would get away with a painted pattern instead of real fur I guess.
There is now a visible seam on the neck where the different fur patches meet. There will be a "mane" of longer hair on the neck that covers it up but I'm not totally happy with the fact that you can't blend fur patches properly (there is a difference even if you copy the guides). Ah well, can't dwell on minor difficulties forever...
No, there's no d***; I could add one but since the character will make just a clothed appearance for now, it'd be just a waste of time. Considering that more polys would affect the UV unwrapping and the texture maps, you might see it as investment in the future though...
And the tail is also still unfurred. That hair needs to be another patch, as it will be dynamic.
