I’m not sure even where to start with this piece. So… I guess this will all be a little rambly.
I’ve always been very fond of tigers… they’re very beautiful and interesting animals, and its symbolic importance to me has waxed and waned now and then through my life. I even had the luxury of being able to see them nearly whenever I wished when I worked for Disney at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park for a while. Once I had flopped down to draw in the window ledge of the Red Pavilion, a small shaded section of the Maharaja Jungle Trek, and one of the tigers happened to walk over and flop down right next to me. You never can tell just how huge these things are until they’re right there looking at you.
So… I finally decided to use the Amazon feather Windwalker gave me to make something. I figured the reddish oranges would contrast well against the green and make it really pop out. Also, the designs painted on it are based off of Asian/India carvings and engravings. Those folks are absolutely crazy with detail and design. The feather itself, however, is actually a mere four inches long. So, rather than make it a prayer feather like many others, I decided this would be a good opportunity to splice a prayer feather and a wand. Both in many cases, are used for very similar things, and I feel that the two go well together. The handle shape I based off of Asian jewelry and architecture, which often has a complex, textured surface. The stones held on by wire and beaded tassels are, Tiger’s eye, which I just found out is according to lore, good for health and spiritual well-being. And lastly, the symbol at the top of the feather in gold is meant to represent the tiger’s activity during both the day, and night. A crescent moon with the sun’s rays.
And… that’s about it. Thank you so much for looking guys!
