Fresh off the Tree...
The Halloween Tree that is! When I was but a wee lad, a nerdlet if you will, there was one Holiday special I ADORED because it was so different! Of course I cherish all the Rankin and Bass Christmas Specials, and who doesn't love Nightmare before Christmas, but outside of them, there was one that always stood out. That movie was called the Halloween Tree (1993) and followed a group of kids chasing after the spirit of their friend Pipkin as he carried a Jack-o-lantern plucked from the Halloween Tree which looked "exactly like him". In their chase, the friends would learn the origins behind their costumes and the meaning of Halloween in a very educations, engaging, and exciting adventure across time and globe!
So for this Halloween I wanted to make a tribute picture to that movie with my little fuzzy ragamuffin hobo meeting up with the ethereal Pipkin and comparing Jack-o-lanterns as they frolic against the breaking clouds of the night sky. UNFORTUNATELY I wasn't able to post this Halloween because my colored Pencils kept breaking and ended up ruining the background. So for the last three days I've been working on trying to salvage the background and give my Prisma Colors a stern talking to. But even still, I'm very happy without how this turned out and having the chance to share a piece of my childhood with you all. Hopefully I can be on time with the rest of these Holidays!
