Theory of Writing
Hunter sat at his desk and mused at the computer screen before him; the blank text document shining brightly into his retina and the blinking cursor hypnotizing him.
“What do I write?”, he asked rhetorically, rubbing his furred chin with a paw; he was lost in his own world desiring to write something, but he had not known what yet, that inspiration had not come to him.
“Why do you want to write?”, his beloved Ammy asked him from across the room, watching her mate stare blankly at the computer screen with a brow raised.
The tan wolfess had always supported Hunter’s passion into the literary arts, but thought that he only enjoyed doing so when he had an idea already in mind, but it seemed to her more like he had an obsession than to just write down what he had in mind.
“That’s a good question, hon,” the brown and beige wolf sat back in his seat for a moment, folding his arms, “Why do I want to write?”.
This philosophical question puzzled him deeply, his mind reeling in the heaviness of her words. Why? Write? Why not say? Why not do? But write? Why? Was he looking to express something deep within him? Something he was too self-conscious to admit or say? But what exactly was that thing?
He rubbed his eyes, relieving the strain they felt from staring at the blank white document, as well as to quell the headache he was developing from conjuring up some potential answer to this abstract question…the question proposed to him by his lover.
“You okay babe?”, Ammy asked concerned filling a glass full of cold water from the faucet, “Here, have a drink”.
Hunter took the glass in his paw, feeling the weight of it and pressing it to his canid lips, tasting the cool, refreshing and calming liquid as it poured onto his tongue before gulping it greedily.
“Thank you, I needed that,” he said with a smile before Ammy graciously took the now empty glass back to the sink.
“You’re welcome sweetie; So, what do you want to write and why?”, she replied.
“I don’t know…in theory I could write about anything! It could be a story, or a poem…perhaps a joke or maybe an essay…it could be about love or life or something random, that’s the beauty of writing: it takes many shapes and forms and it is all unique, and holds special meanings to everyone”
“Okay, so I’ll ask you again…why?”, she slightly leaned her hips to the side, shifting her weight while tossing her pawed hand into the air with a flick.
The brown and beige wolf’s muzzle grew a slight smirk, his black lips pulled back while his eyes narrowed, “Because, in theory…I can”
My second entry for the Thursday Prompt, though not as good as my first, this one was rather quick as I have been really trying to come up with something for the keyword this week which was 'Theory' and struggling with writer's block.
So yup, go easy on the critique on this one please XD short, simple and rather crude ^^

xD can almost see the author himself sat at his desk, taking this word in thought and thinking what he could do with the word. What to write about this word, in what form, how to present. Pretty much what Hunter is feeling here. I think it's clever, more than my one! Taking what you feel the moment you saw that word, thought about it, well these are your feelings right now pondering how to use a word like "theory". That's what I'm getting anyway c: I enjoyed it~ A little look into the writer's mind :P haha
Look like an idiot now if I'm totally off and wrong :P I enjoyed this small bit~ Refreshing! I had a lot of trouble with this prompt as well :P

Nope you got it spot on lol! I sat in front of my laptop for a while last night trying to think up something for theory and couldn’t, at least not without taking the literal approach. So I just started to write what was going on and it ironically fell into place XD
So you’re not an idiot ;) not like I felt writing this for the prompt but glad you enjoyed it :)
