"When a Dying Moon is eclipsed by the morning star, a warrior queen shall appear from the west with the New"
6" x 8" color pencil with a little micron and gel pen.
Feels good to finish my first piece in a year! Gonna be starting another tonight.
Well actually, she may get whiskers which is something that I usually avoid as I see them as a make or break thing. Whadda ya think, would you like to see her with proper cat whiskers or is she fine as is???
The "Black" background actually has various greens overlaid that become more prominent toward the bottom which gives some feeling of depth but the photo didn't pick up much of it.
This will probably be in the MFF art show.
As always comments/critique welcome.

Hey it's alright, I understand all kinds of things in life just come up. It sucks when you get in an artistic dry spell but it's great to see you getting back into it! I generally prefer limited or natural palettes myself so that's probably why I enjoy your color choices, I'd say green overall is a great default (also fun to color).
I think I will carefully add whiskers when I find my small brushes. She looks naked without them.
AH,someone finally wondered about that. Not a whole lot of choices from once you think about it. :)
and not really an eclipse as much as a slow transit.
I suppose it was a prophecy.

It's such a pleasure seeing more of your wonderful work, I'm always fond of how you draw felines! I appreciate the make or break point you made about drawing whiskers, I think the delicate whiskers you can just make out against the background looks good just the way you have them drawn
I didn't think anyone would notice the phantom whiskers. I did that as an experiment with my ivory color pencil. They need to be done in thinned white ink with a fine brush. I have the ink, just can't find my brushes, (along with a lot of my other art supplies) after my move.
wonderful
mhh I'm actually pro whiskers. it gives her face a more natural expression and with them you can easier express rage for exeple of you ever plan to do another piece with her in the middle of a battlefield
of course in her society it could also be a matter of beauty to remove the whiskers ... :O

Beautiful.
I can never decide myself when to add whiskers and when not, but usually find the picture more "complete" or "natural" after I add them in the end (in pencil that is, my shaking hands would probably be too much for this kind of detailed brushwork).
Is there any more story behind this piece?
