Here at the end of my month of posting every day, October 26th-31st is all 'Different Looks, Different Guises, Dressup, and Costumes!'
-
I'm proud to have WhiteMantis' iron-willed roach woman, Asami, as part of my 'Ames Sond 00S' homage series. She's in the role of 'M' - at least whenever M was played by the esteemed Dame Judi Dench.
I couldn't post this picture without honouring it with a little scene, and rather than transposing any real Bond scene into my Sond style, I made up a whole new moment, which would presumably take place sometime between 'Quantum of Sssolace' and 'Ssskyfall.'
Enjoy! :}===<

Debriefing
The operation had been a disaster.
Though it had occurred far and away from the darkened office, its effects were nevertheless being felt therein.
Flipping rapidly through a sheaf of paper, the elderly roach woman behind the vast desk bristled as her sharp eyes darted from page to page, glaring daggers at each, if they were all unwelcome messengers crowding around her, demanding her attention with shrill, cutting voices.
The report forwarded from her opposite number in Hungary told a sordid tale of matters most malicious; an unnamed serpent suspect and all he was charged with, from generally disturbing the peace, to assault, to grand larceny involving a famous and still-as-yet-unrecovered jade necklace.
From this, she could easily discern and mentally assemble a laundry list of the lengthy lout's various misapplications of force, ministry money and most importantly; time.
Having had her fill of the evidence that showed 00S to have been his most disruptive yet, the roach woman known as M slapped the thick stack of papers down.
"I didn't have you selected, educated and trained just so you could cause an international incident, Sond. Need I remind you that a spy is meant to operate in such a way as to _avoid_ the attention of the local and federal authorities, journalists, newsmedia, and general populace?! Nor, should I add, should an effective operative cause an amount of property damage that is reportedly going to take roughly a year to accurately determine?!"
Ignoring the white-haired woman's scathing tongue lashing, the snake zeroed in on the slight sign that she cared about him. "_You_ had me selected, M?" asked Sond, a slight twitch of a smirk playing at the edge of his serpentine mouth.
The roach's antennae twitched as she realized her mistake. "The government, the agency," corrected M, dismissively waving one hand over her papers while the other scratched various notes upon them. She looked down, trying to play it off as if it had been nothing at all. As if she had had nothing to do with a sizable portion of the refinement that had gone into the rough, unshaped chunk of quartz she had secretly scouted, those years ago.
"But you said _I_, ma'am," Sond persisted, no longer even trying to hide the beginnings of a sly grin. "So, was it you, or the agency?"
Dropping her tone as far as she could, M spoke coldly and quietly: "As far as you're concerned, Sond, _I am the agency_ and you're suspended, effective immediately."
"I'm afraid I must protest, ma'am! Regardless of the price paid, now that I've secured a lead on this Quantum organization, I have to follow it up."
"No. Hand over your Walther, 00I will handle this case from here on out."
"That ball of bad hair and too many legs doesn't have my contacts," Sond said, his voice a thick mixture of contempt and incredulousness. She couldn't be serious.
"You are dismissed, 00S."
That was it, the final word.
Ames rose from the small pile of coils he had been using as a seat in front of his superior's desk. Her own guest chairs sat off to both sides, pressed smoothly away by loops of snakebody upon his arrival. The snake turned and headed toward the large, leather-padded door, which had a second unadorned one inches beyond the bulk of the first.
As the heft of the ornate first door swung silently on its well maintained hinges, M casually added, as if what she said was of no great consequence, "I hear Croatia's lovely this time of year."
Presumably, she was advising the agent on what he could do with his now abundant time off, given that she had suspended him.
The python paused and turned his head back at the slightest of angles. He understood; despite all he had done, he had gotten a definitive result, and she was giving him time to chase down his lead, himself. She had known the tarantulan 00I would give Sond a clear head start, as Ames himself had realized now. Perhaps there had been pressure from above M's station, to remove the reptile from active duty, which she was unofficially resisting.
"Ma'am," said the snake, softly, and with a touch of gratitude, before he quickly left, to complete his mission, even if he would appear to have gone rogue.

At one point, the idea was that Klebb and M would both be played by the same actress, the same roach woman who "played" Asami in 'Blade Under Mask', Amaranth's comic. Then I expanded things to the same full 50+ year timeline, so that didn't make sense anymore.
Therefore, the throughline is now this: Klebb was played by a roach woman in 1963, and then some 30-odd years later, another roach lady was cast to play the new female M in GoldenEyessss, perhaps as a nod back to the roots of the series and the classic character.
This is also why a white mantis-woman is in the role of Vesper Lynd, hiring her is a nod back to the character of Tanya in FRWL. Similarly, the inclusion of a dama gazelle in Ssspectre and No Time To Die is a nod back to the inclusion of one in Live and Let Sssspy.

That's a cool way to go about it! It makes a little more sense to it now that I think about it when seeing the characters pop up in familiar species. I was wondering if they were supposed to be just as you said 'the same actors'.
That one Sond info post from around 2 years back clued me in about different actors for 'Sond', so I was ruminating on that idea when recurrent species came up. But this one different character for the same animal type had to make me double back to FRWL to remember if Klebb was a still a roach!

Yeah, I had to do a bit of interesting world-building and excuse-making to make it so all 6 Sond actors took on the same stage name of 'Amethystine Python', since all the posters had that name on there, since that's Ame's full name. The posters started with that idea, that it was just Ame in the role, but Ame couldn't have done it all, if it's all spanning over 50 years [unless naga have long dragon-like lifespans or something]
I prefer the idea of keeping it all more parallel to the real Bond canon, though.
Of course, given how much self-reference that the real movies do, bringing back similar-or-the-same species for things like this seems like something they would do.

All I can say is that you're a real wiz with your works!
It must be like trying to fit a puzzle together, I feel. Sure, you might have to compromise and lose something/suffer an error, but it'll be satisfying when the machine is working.
J-just stop linking me to those enigma puzzle boxes. @_@
