People touch my tail sometimes. I tend to think of it how a real furry might. They're a pain to keep clean, and a sign of beauty (btw why don't more people put ribbons and other accessories on characters' tails? :/ It's rare!) so touching it is a matter of flirting or intimacy, not a matter of random interaction or teasing. Show some respect, people!
So at least in this case, that reaction and situation itself actually feels socially correct. It's a step down from touching an erogenous zone, but still a personal matter, and one that would probably be socially inappropriate unless chemistry is sensed. :3
