"He pulled the phial of perfume from his pocket, blowing its fragrance upon some insects he had collected before releasing them within the long cylindrical service shaft. The glow of their abdomens grew bright as they took flight around him, occasionally dipping back down and landing upon his body before taking flight once again. They circled him gaily, illuminating the darkness as Takeshi continued to descend down the ladder. The attraction of his own scent kept them close; the same perfume wafting from the fabric of his clothing and skin. One might think that this would make him a perfect target. The noticeable light could certainly draw unwanted attention, but he had trained his helpful assistants to fly back into their shaded cage if necessary. The light completely snuffed out once inside, however they were far more sustainable than a battery and just as bright as a flashlight."
