The best RPG I played in 2017 was about Miis.
To say this game surpassed my expectations is an understatement. What I expected to be a fun 15 hours or so turned out to be much grander than I anticipated. Miis have been in casual games (Wii Sports, Tomodachi Life, etc) that were fun at best and unremarkable at worst, which lead me to believe Miitopia would be the same.
Boy, was I wrong. While it keeps the casualized style of play with simple RPG gameplay that practically plays itself as the Miis walk the path on their own and engage in shallow battles, the writing, interactions, music, and even story was beyond what I expected and thus Miitopia has become one of my favorite RPGs on the 3DS.
Aaaaannd that's my review of Miitopia. Go play it, you're in for a delightful surprise if you do!
