Halloween 2017 - Haunted House - Stellar Saferoom
Probably the most basic incarnation of scary places, the haunted house comes in many different flavors and variations, though one usually pictures some sort of mansion. Normally these are just buildings that have some sort of dark history to them. Maybe people died in it's construction, maybe a murder happened there, or maybe it was build on some sort of burial ground filled with spirits who don't like cement going over them.
Regardless, it's always a setting that speaks to horror. It's a creaky place, with sounds going off from the creepy things that inhabit it...or simply because it's old. It's confined to several rooms, giving the feeling of being locked into a place of horror. It's also usually dark and without power for some reason, which just adds to the "what was that?" quotion of things.
While this is a good place for some killer or creepy monster, haunted houses are called haunted for a reason...originally it was mostly about ghosts. A heck of a lot of shows have tried to prove that places are haunted by spirits, showing things like balls of light or thinking static is something speaking to them.
And apparently...9 times out of 10, all those ghosts HATE YOU. Paranormal Activity, The Conjuring, The Grudge. Seems that if there's an afterlife, spirits hate it so much that they take it out on the living. What a happy thought right?
But anyway, haunted houses can be fun too. It's one of the best environments for a Halloween event to really get you in the feeling.
So I picked a..."haunted house" of sorts for a program and brought Rigel along. I didn't tell him how big it was, and had to skip a few things, but unlike me, he wasn't prepared for some of the "residents" of the place.
So when he got a bit panicked at one of the more dangerous things in the place, which I can't blame him for honestly, we got to probably the safest, if not weirdest, place in the house. The cat's like a thesaurus on conceptual matters, but at least it's the one thing that doesn't try to kill you in the place.
It's probably not hard, but go ahead and guess which "Haunted House" from somewhere that was my pick!

I honestly really love that game. Behind it's deceptively cutesy art style and totally non-threatening "jumpscares" lies a slow buildup that provides genuine horror as monsters tailored from the same cloth as The Ring, Silent Hill, Majora's Mask, Earthbound, The Thing, Clocktower and more, start hunting you down from out of nowhere.
It's a shame, though. If Azul and Rigel had kept going a little further (and didn't mind Giygas chasing them down for a bit) they would have found a pleasant, innocent, totally-not-an-eldritch-horror deer man to talk to.

Not to mention there's still some mystery to how all the stuff got there.
Actually DID go all the way through...but ducked out at the end (I know what the "good" ending is, and I'm not about to be floating about all the place). I will say though, for that section, I handled the axe. Rigel may have been liable enough to cut my tail off swinging that thing...
