This drawing reminds me of a variety of things... including the time Dad taught me how to play chess, and another missed opportunity of attending a convention of the National Puzzlers' League. (The 2009 edition, which occurred last weekend, took place in Baltimore.) I like making special word puzzles with a 'chess theme', and someday I'll post one of these particular puzzles (and a cartoon to go with it) in my gallery...

from what i can see the horse can still attempt to force a draw.
on his next move, he takes the rook and he has an opening to reach a point where he can force a 20 repeated moves stalemate.
