Sketch from
Rafferty at AC a few years back of Arrovic, a character I played in an Ironclaw game a long time ago.
I don't usually get super attached to characters from tabletop RPGs, but Arrovic was different. As a member of the Bisclavret secret police, he served as a spy and an infiltrator, preferring to sneak and lie his way through problems rather than fighting (case in point, despite being issued a pistol, he rarely ever used it, considering it more a tool of intimidation than anything else). Of course, things went south when someone within his own organization tried to have him killed, at which point he opted to slip away and go into business for himself, utilizing his skills of deception to get through life. If anyone watched the series Burn Notice, think Michael Weston with a considerably more flexible set of morals. His new traveling companions found his aversion to the truth a bit frustrating at times, but begrudgingly accepted the usefulness.
Motto to live by: "Lies are far more convenient than the truth."
Regardless, Arrovic survived the campaign (though he was cursed with probably the worst dice rolls I have EVER seen with any particular character. The dice wouldn't let him die, just ensure that he was bloodied and beaten to within an inch of his life), retired, and even ended up married (a story for another time).
In this particular scene, we find him committing a little pending sabotage on someone's unfortunate gunpowder supply, and following two rules to live by. One, never look at the explosion, and two, never look back.
